it's 00:20 here, i'm bored and i can stay up late tonight because tomorrow classes only start at 1:30pm. i was just thinking that if i used my "dead hours" (like now) to study or something, i'd be a great student. sucks.

also, i was thinking - are jews members of a race, a religion or both?

Both, "secular jews" refers to the race and I dunno what the term for the religion is.

As far as I can tell from whenever someone preaches to me about it (me being born Jewish and my entire family being jewish), its about both community and religion and blah blah blah.

Either way its all boring.

It's both as my religion teacher says, as you can't separate the culture with the religion and such.

I've always thought of Judaism as a religion. I could become a Jew tomorrow, if I wanted. My dad always gets into arguements with Jews over whethere it's a race or religion. I won't deny it's a culture though.

I'd assume that the jews know what they're talking about.

well.. you can.. the aryan race (or scandinavian race if you like) was separated from it's original culture. .. anyway, less than half of the danish population refers to themselves as being christians despite living in a culture is based on christianity.

one thing i don't understand, though, is that secular jews living outside Israel refer to themselves as jews all the time.. why is that? I don't refer to myself as being aryan, since it's of less importance - and if i did ppl would hang me. I would refer to my nationality.

Thats the thing, though. Whereas Christianity is specifically a religion, Judaism is apparently both a religion and a culture/heritage. Something to do with people trying to kill us every half century. Its all nonsense, but there we are.
