Espicially on the Original Gangster from West Linn. Chael P. Sonnen.

Yeah, if the Silva-Jones fight ever happens, how viciously Jones decapitates him with elbows will be an over-analyzed comparison point.

Styles man, styles make fights. Jones is a wrestler, Sonnen is a wrestler. Jones will destroy Sonnen with his size and strength as a bigger stronger wrestler. Plus his ground and pound and jiu-jitsu are top notch.

yeah I do have to admit I was surprised Sonnen would take a fight with Jones, at first I thought it seemed like career suicide for Chael

I didn't know what time the fights started tonight so I completely missed them. But I saw that Bendo won. Surprise! Not. Did he dominate? Probably.

I wouldn't say dominate as Gil is a good fighter, but as the fight went on Bendo took over and won a split decision. Whoeve Melendez fights next is in for one hell of a fight.

The winner of the upcoming Gray Maynard-TJ Grant fight will fight Henderson for the lightweight title next.

Seeing Nate Diaz get knocked out for the first time in his career was awesome! Cesar Gracie's camp is on a terrible losing streak. Jake Shields is the worst corner man ever.

Mir looked like he was paid off to let Cormier dominate him. Mir never once pulled guard or tried for a submission. Cormier continuously clinched him against the cage and controlled every aspect destroying Franks midsection. Cormier is for real, Mir needs to retire.

Matt Brown wants a title shot after stopping Jordan Mein for his 5th straight win. I'd say a fight with a Koscheck or Marquardt would be more accurate. Nick Diaz would be good, or maybe even Martin Kampmann.

Overall there was 8 knockouts which ties a UFC record for 1 card.

Sonnen took the fight because he's getting ready for retirement and pay-per view main event title fight against Jon Jones is big money, good business.

I personally think Jones-Sonnen was stopped too soon, but I agree with Joe that Sonnen was about to be tenderized with elbows. Jones toe was fucked up and he may be out a while. Lyoto Machida is next in line, but Jones wants Gus and so does Machida. It'll most likely be a Dragon-Mauler #1 contender fight sometime soon then the winner fights a healthy Jones.

Sonnen was insulting Jones and Anderson Silva post fight saying both are fickle champions who pick their fights instead of fighting who's the best. Then Dana White said that Anderson Silva just called and asked to fight a certain somebody after Chris Weidman. He wouldn't say who, but most people believe it to be Jones. Why else would Dana mention it post-fight of another dominant win by Jones?

Definitely called a little too early, but Sonnen wasn't getting out of that I don't think. When Jones is raining down blows like that, I don't know how you get out of it and Sonnen sure wasn't working towards it. Maybe, however Jones fucked up his toe, that injury would have helped Sonnen if he got out of that round, but the toe wasn't stopping Jones so long as he was running on adrenaline. And who was the referee? I don't remembering it being the big ass white guy, and I was kinda hoping it was going to be Herb Dean given that he did the early fight but that wasn't to be.

As for Silva and Jones' fights, given that Silva has beat any and all competition that he has faced, simply destroyed most of it, I don't know how he can be described as fickle just because he is vocal about who he wants to fight. And given how I feel like Jones could fight anyone and punish them, Sonnen can go eat a dick. Oh, boohoo he wouldn't find you on a week's notice. Sonnen got his ass kicked by Jones, even if he played Jones right in coming out from the gates and trying to land blows which was awesome to watch, and how the second fight against Silva showed how Silva has his number makes me think that the first fight was a fluke all along.

And let's talk about how spot-on Bisping looked with his striking. Damn.

And Kongo is a bitch.

Reading Sonnen's comments on fighting both Silva and Jones has me kinda stoked for that possibility.

So if Chael Sonnen would of survived the round, he would be the new light heavyweight champion. Fight would of been stopped between rounds and Sonnen would win on Technical Stoppage or some shit.

Can you imagine Chael as the champ? Jones will most likely be out a while, he would of defended against Machida next. A very winnable fight for Sonnen... What if?

They would stop the fight and score it from there, like they did with Bisping, right? Bisping didn't win the fight because he gouged Belcher's eye; he won because he had the scoring. Jones would have won because he lit Sonnen up that round. Or is that not how it works? And Sonnen would be champ for two matches before Jones' foot heals and he comes back and wrecks the dude like he did this time around. That would be money in Sonnen's pocket, but Dana White wouldn't let Jones sit on the sidelines for any longer than necessary without being the champ, especially on a technical stoppage or whatever.

The difference is that Belcher stoppage was in the 3rd and late in the fight. Title fights are different. Since it was only 1 of 5 rounds, Sonnen would win on technical stoppage. I don't know the exact wording, but basically Chael P. would be champ if the stoppage wasn't early.

What will most likely happen is that Jones will rematch Machida late summer if healthy, or Machida will fight Gustafsson and the winner gets Jones next fall/winter. Sure anything can and usually does happen, but that is the apparent plan.

Cheick Kongo was cut by the UFC.

Also, Demian Maia will show another former title challenger the door when he fights Josh Koscheck at UFC 163.
