yeah, but Kaka won the Champions League, so that can help explain a large part of the vote swinging towards him. i can't believe Messi got #2 though, that was ridiculously unfair!

i think these awards should be handed out in September at the latest, otherwise a great start to the season will skew the votes, as we saw with Messi last year. because say what you will these are awards for the season and not for the year.

It's insane how much Manchester City can allow themselves to pay for Kaka. A 100 fucking million pounds, and a weekly wage around 525 000 pounds. SICK!

but Kaka seems more than happy to stay and Milan and has hinted that he'll stay there until he retires if the club allows it.

fuck manchester city. so far only Robinho signed for them and i doubt many more will follow. Buffon already told them to get bent.

Read today that Kaka would consider it.

dunno, on goal.com he said he wouldn't mind staying at Milan until retirement. anyway, if this talk of a €200M+ offer is true, i think Milan will accept it. they'd be stupid not to. for that kind of money they can buy like 5-7 absolutely world-class players.

and what about man united? back on top of the table.. man i hate those guys. fucking Liverpool wasted more than their share of chances to distance themselves on top, though.

Berlusconi has now appeared live on SKY Italia and declared: "I am very happy.

"Kaka is not only a great player on the pitch, he is also a very honourable man.

"Not only is money not everything to him, he is happy to stay at Milan with all his friends.

"He is touched with everything he has received from all the fans in Milan who pleaded him to stay.

"Kaka has never held Milan to ransom by trying to up his own contract while considering Manchester City's offer.

"He hasn't asked for an extra penny to stay here - he is a very honourable man.

"What has happened over the last week with Man City proves that money is not everything in football.

"Milan told Kaka about the offer of Man City, just like we did with Sheva [Andriy Shevchenko] about Chelsea.

"The offer Kaka received was substantially more, but he never held Milan to ransom, and chose to stay."

i disagree with Berlusconi, though, money is 90% of modern football, sadly. still a great attitude from Kaka.

I disagree... money for a low-level team as Manchester City is not very interesting. The great players wan to earn money in top teams.

If the offer had come from Chelsea, Manchester United, FC Barcelona, or Real Madrid, the things could have been different.

I'm sure that if Florentino Perez is next Real Madrid president, he'll come with a great player... that could be Kaka.

Wouldn't call Man City a low level team, they belong in subtop. And if teams like Chelsea, ManU or Barcelona etc. made the offer he may have been tempted more but none of those teams really need him. With Man City he would play every game he could, even if he sucked ass, simply because they would have paid 100+ million on him and because the fans cream in their pants at the thought of having Kaka in their team. Still a great outcome, he should stay with Milan.

there's this guy at FC Porto, Bruno Alves, who is a fucking animal. the guy hasn't received a red card since 2005 and has never been suspended through 5 yellows either. how is this possible?

BA blatantly tries to kick Suazo, just 3 days ago when Benfica played FCP.

i hate this guy. and he always goes after the sissy players, i'd like to see him take on Vukcevic from Sporting who apparently is an avid karate practitioner. fucking asshole.

on a lighter note, Real Madrid director Pedja Mijatovic looks a lot like Mike Patton:

So, we had our legendary coach back, and we beat Germany in our first game after not winning for the entire last year.

Aggregate scores:
Chelsea 3 x 2 Juventus
Bayern Munich 12 x 1 Sporting (LOL)
Porto 2 x 2 Atlético Madrid (Porto through on away goals)
Villarreal 3 x 2 Panathinaikos
Liverpool 5 x 0 Real Madrid (FUCK YEAH!)
Barcelona 6 x 3 Olympique Lyonnais
Arsenal 7 x 6 AS Roma (penalty shootout)
Man United 2 x 0 Inter Milan

my commentaries:
- Bayern fucking destroyed Sporting, 5-0 in Lisbon and 7-1 in Munich. Sporting simply don't have the pace for European matches, and it shows. fucking humiliating result for Portuguese football, i saw the match last night and couldn't believe it. i mean, i lol'd at our so-called rivals' disaster, but bloody hell it was embarassing. can't imagine what would have happened had Ribery played the second leg!

- Liverpool crushed Real, although apparently their performance wasn't as good as the result (i didn't see the matches myself). anyway Liverpool are my favourite English team and i hope to see them in the final against Barcelona. go reds!

- Barcelona brushed aside Lyon, their defence could have done better on occasions but their attack is simply devastating. Messi is an absolute genius and is truly Maradona's heir, Henry is amazing and Eto'o is a world-class striker. they're playing the best football in Europe and their my favourites to win the CL this season. unstoppable.

- Man United eliminated Inter. i hate both clubs so meh, but i have to LOL at Mourinho. clearly he can only win a champions league if Monaco or Deportivo are in it, any good teams and he just can't cope. Man United have an excellent team, i can only hope they fuck up in the next round.

Liverpool were incredible last night. And that's coming from a United-fan. Too bad your coach completely suck at tactics back home. Looking forward to the weekend.

I agree, but Henry, Messi & Eto'o are nothing without Iniesta & Xavi... they both are the brains of this team, and make the difference between Barça and other teams.

(I don't want Liverpool til the final)

Embarrasing, but I guess we're bound to have a down-period during the season. Shame it came now. Still pretty sure we'll win.
