I'm pissed by it too honestly. I hated when he did that shit. If he would have pulled it off, it would have been amazing sure, but he didn't so Jones next please? His attitude seems that he is over taking on big title fights, but I could be wrong. That would exclude GSP or Jones. But god, I hope not. Ending his reign this way to get to Jones and retiring would be spectacular.

Dana White put it best when he said that Silva has lost before but he has forgotten how to lose. We witnessed a 7 year, 17 fight streak come to an end because of clowning around. I think he takes some time off, couple days/weeks and will want to get revenge. He showed in the first round that he can beat Weidman.

Pffff.

Aldo over Zombie.
I want Davis over Machida, but I'd be surprised.

So the best free card in the history of free cards is on tonight. Picks!?!

I got, in no particular order, Shogun, Overeem (this was a tough one, Browne is a beast), Faber (but to see Alcantara win would be fantastic), Lauzon, McGregor, McDonald (another very hard choice), Pyle (over Brown, Matt not Mike), Hall (although his wrestling sucks, could be a boring grinder match where the overrated Hall can show his true colours), Brown (Mike not Matt), Brandao.

Not doing Facebook pics, but even they will be good scraps. Gamburyan-Miller? St-Preux is a very talented guy. Nijem-Vick could potentially be fight of the night. Jesus. What a card.

Interesting notes:
- Michael McDonalds first fight since he was submitted by interim champ Renan Barao. Was McDonalds first UFC loss and only the 2nd of his career.
- Matt Brown is riding a career best 5 figh winning streak, his opponent Mike Pyle has won 4 straight.
- Pyle is an injury replacement for former title challenger Thiago Alves.
- Steven Silver is a late injury replacement for Akira Corassani, vs former WEC champ Mike Brown.
- Long time veteran and former WEC Featherweight champion (guy Aldo beat to become champ) Mike Brown is fighting in his first fight in over a year.
- Overeem is coming off that big knockout loss to Bigfoot Silva, which was his first in the UFC and his first in a 7 year 12 fight span.
- Little known Yuri Alcantara, fighting former WEC champ Urijah Faber, has the most stoppage wins in the bantamweight (135 lbs) division.
- Chael Sonnen says he most likely will retun to middleweight (185 lbs) after this fight, says he still has a long list of guys he needs to beat up. Top 3 being Vitor Belfort, Wanderlei Silva, and Lil Nog.
- Max Holloway, fighting every bodies new favourite fighter Connor McGregor, is a late injury replacement replacing Andy Ogle. Holloway is coming off only the 2nd loss of his career, both coming in the UFC, following a split-decision loss to Dennis Bermudez. Most media outlets and MMA pundits gave the fight to Holloway.
- Holloway is the youngest fighter on the UFC roster at 21 years old.
- This will only be Connor McGregors second UFC fight, most recently knocking out Marcus Brimmage, handing him his firs UFC loss, in only 67 seconds. And it was beautiful.
- Fuck you guys. Watch the fights! Fox Sports 1! Formerly known as Speed.

Nice post, Walnut. I'm watching it right now. I couldn't pick between Pickett and McDonald, that's gonna be a very interesting fight. Great card, a good mix between up and coming fighters and proven warriors.

Awesome card. Great start for Fox Sports 1. As if Sonnen submitted Shogun in the first. I can't believe that. And front kick to the face!

Sonnen looked damn good. But his desire to whoop up on Vitor, Wandy and Nog seems a stretch.

What's the next event?

Jones-Barao-Mitrione-Phillippou-Nurmagomedov (hardest one to pick)

I'm expecting like 20 people at my place for this event. Gonna be epic.

I got the same picks, but Schaub instead of Meat Head.

Schaub has the superior grappling skills for sure, but I like Mitriones KO power and Schaubs last couple lossss are by knockout.

His chin is a risk but I like his overall skills better. We'll see though.

Gonna watch the card live with some friends, main card starts at 4 AM so it's gonna be a long night. It's my cousin's 30th birthday as well, hopefully I'll stay awake but with the alcohol who knows.

Nothing beats fight night, or in your case fight morning.

Amazing fight between Jones and Gus. Gus' hand speed and footwork is incredible. And who knew he had such good takedown defence? And then become the first person to ever take Jones down? Crazy. Was an amazing fight that apparently was almost stopped between rounds 4 and 5 due to the cut above Jones' eye. If it would of been stopped, Gus would be the new champ. I think Gus should be the champ anyway, as I think he won at least 3 rounds. But it was incredibly close and Dana White mentioned rematch about 5 times at the post fight press conference.

Also, Renan Barao is a monster. Wineland looked good early, but Barao has an answer for everything. And that kick he used to finish? Imagine if it landed flush, he could of killed Wineland. Barao vs Cruz will be an awesome fight, too bad it will be a Cruz who hasn't fought in 2 years and will probably have some serious ring rust. I'm kinda hoping he gets stripped of the title, Barao gets promoted to undisputed champ, let Cruz come back on his own time and get a fight or two in before fighting the monster that is Renan Barao.

Nurmagomedov is for real. He tossed a very tough veteran in Healy around like he was an amateur. Nurmy isn't ready for Anthony Pettis like he says, but another win or two and he's right there. I'd say match him up against the Sanchez-Melendez winner.

Schaub made Mitrione his bitch.

Carmont wins his 11th straight and remains undefeated in the UFC at 6-0, but he's not winning too many fans over with his fighting style. Dana White joked that the fight was so boring they had to pan the camera to show champ Chris Weidman just to liven things up. Still, 11 straight wins is nothing to sneeze at.

That fight was worth staying up for, man... So damn close! I'm sure Gus earned some new fans, what a war. As much as I would love a rematch right away, both guys are young, let them fight a few times and do it again then. I think an immediate rematch would favor Jones as he has more tools at his disposal, I'd rather see Gus have a chance to work on his skills some more before trying again because if he loses the rematch as well he'll be a loooooong way from getting another shot.

Part of me is elated that he exceeded all expectations and put up such an impressive effort against one of the best of all time but another is devastated because the fight could have been his.
