Portugal played a crap match against Bosnia, won 1-0. Carlos Queiros is fucking ridiculous, a team with players form chelsea, real madrid, inter and man united and he struggles against fucking BOSNIA? they're not a bad team, but come on!

Fucking France beat Ireland 1-0. And from what I could tell, the Irish played a better game overall. More cohesive as a team, built up better movements. Bah.

the fact that Portugal and France are stumbling against lower-ranked teams like Bosnia-Herzegovina and Austria shows how little they deserve their likely trips to South Africa.

UEFA or FIFA changed Europe's qualification rules at the last minute, the playoffs were supposed to be drawn from a single pot, the changes mean that now there would be two pots, one with the highest ranked teams (portugal, greece, russia and france) and one with the others, to make sure that the start-studded Portuguese and French teams made it to the finals.

also a note for Robert Enke, he played at Benfica and was probably our best keeper since Michel Preud'homme, who retired in 1999. he will be missed.

It's traditional for Ticinese to cheer whatever team is playing against Italy. Apart from being connected to a deeper, socio-economic antipathy towards an influx of Italian workers causing severe salary dumping, we find the Italian fan culture unbearable, and the goddamm honking until 4 in the morning is even more annoying.

Oh, and I find Italy's playing style utterly boring.
