FFVI Advance - Zad, you should get Visual Boy Advance to emulate GBA games - Advance Wars, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Mario Kart, Super Mario Advance 1 to 4, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Castevania, fuckloads of awesome games :dio:

I wish there was a decent DS emulator, I really want to play Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.

Right now I'm playing a game called Starless Umbra, it was made with RPG Maker 2K3 by Dragonheartman.

Here's the link: http://www.starlessumbra.com/

There are some really amazing stuff out there that people have made with RPG Maker 2000 and 2K3, some of them are better than commercial games. One example is a game called The Way, the only other game that has a better storyline is Planescape: Torment, and The Way was created by one person.

Anyway, Starless Umbra is pretty cool so far, it's got a lot of unique functions and what seems like a great story.

Bought Call of Duty 2, finally. Discount price. And, of course, I love it. I also bought The Lord of the Ring: Return of the King, the hack'n'slash type game, for 2,50€. Couldn't leave it be for that price.

Good bargain for Return. Its definitely a fun hack and slasher- the best levels are the ones during the siege of Minas Tirith, and that level where you're outside the fortification (Osgiliath) as Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas and just slaughtering hordes of enemies. Its even better with a friend.

The game download was taken off since the author is working on a new chapter. But the screenshots look cool. Very Working Designs-ish.

Yeah, it's a shame. I don't think it's a smart thing to do since he'll probably lose potential fans. If I wouldn't have gone hunting for an earlier version of the game I probably would've forgotten all about it before the new chapter was released. Fortunately I found chapter 3 of the game. I uploaded it here if you're interested in trying it out:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EU91S7EI

Also, you may have to install the RPG Maker RTP, it's a small download that has some of the core files for RPG Maker.

Thanks for the link. Cool game so far. Although the opening seems like a deliberate imitation of Chrono Trigger's intro. I have a question: Do I need to play Chapters 1 and 2 first to understand the game's plot?

It sucks that nowadays freeware seems to be the only way you can really enjoy oldschool gaming. Particularly with the Game Boy Advance being dead, just about every commercial game now uses fancy 3-D graphics and Hollywood quality production values. It's refreshing to play a classic Mario game (Super Mario Forever) and an old-school RPG once in a while.

The version that you're playing is actually chapters 1-3, it's just called chapter 3 because that's as far as you can get.

FF6 is my favourite game ever. I hope that Square don't remake it (and 5) for the DS though, I'd rather see it on the PSP or something that won't have those chibi models so that the graphics will do the rest of the game justice. Probably one of the best storylines I've encountered as well.

NP: Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne

Speaking of Mario, that reminds me, I completed Mario Bros 3 a few days back.

Had a good bash at 1, but those end castle levels are too similar and dull, will have to leave it for a while.

For those who are curious, here's a link to the download site for Mario Forever. It's actually become a very popular freeware game:

http://www.download.com/Mario-Forever/3 ... 44976.html

It isn't quite AS good as the classic Mario games, but it's still a great oldschool throwback to them. It's also probably the most challenging 2D Mario game ever made (although that may be partially due to how much harder it is to play a game like this on a keyboard than on a controller).

Call me crazy, but Final Fantasy IV DS is probably the game I'm most looking forward to right now.

Downloading, I'll give it a go!

I actually think it was perfect on the SNES/PS/GBA and should never be properly remade :P

And Seinfeld:- EMulatiiiiiiion  Or are you saying that youve played all the old school games you want to play and need 'new' old school style games?

FF6 is completely awesome in every way. I'm going to need to replay it this summer.

I just completed the three chapters of Starless Umbra and after a while of looking for a new game I found this:

http://www.nealien.com/Everlong/screenshots.php

It looks really massive for a RPG Maker game and has a crazy amount of special features, stuff like item forging and custom skill systems and so on.
