Seems like Martin Hansson fucked up yet another match yesterday (France - Ireland). I just can't believe why that guy keeps getting international assignments. He sucks in Allsvenskan and apparently he sucks even harder at international level.

Cheating cheese-eating swines!

PS We can has Lars Lagerback as Scotland manager plz?

and FIFA still insists with the 'human element' crap. i'd like to see the idiots who support that crap after the ref allowed a clearly illegal goal against their team to cause them defeat/elimination/whatever. fucking ridiculous.

The thing is, it won't really. France will go to the World Cup. Henry will continue scoring goals for Barcelona, earning millions of euros and being adored by thousands.

I think Ireland's reaction has been a bit OTT - we've all been done by dubious refereeing decisions over the years. Calling for replays and idiots talking about sueing and claiming FIFA are out to get them is just making them look stupid.

i don't think FIFA is out to specifically get Ireland, but i do believe that efforts are made to make sure that the 'star-powered' teams make it far into competitions, both at club and national team level. the seeding decision was an obvious signal, and now this.

in the last Champions League we all saw Barcelona being blatantly helped through in Stamford Bridge, in World Cup 2002 home team South Korea eliminated Spain and Italy with help from referees.... it was the first world cup held in Asia and FIFA wanted to get the attention of billions of people who would begin tuning on to matches.

/conspiracy theory

Of course. That they changed the seeding rules so late in the game was obviously because so many teams that should have scooshed their groups were in danger of finisihing second - like quite a few of them did.

This, I don't buy. There are no conspiracies in football. Bribes, now that's a different matter, but big top-to-botom conspiracies relying on the compliance of all involved? Nah.

what compliance? FIFA instructs the referee to give a certain side a hand, club and federation heads are in on it, and that's it.
FIFA won't accept video assistance and stopped clocks, it's in their favour to excuse referee mistakes (the outrage would be too big if a ref saw a video of Gallas's goal and still said he didn't see any handling) and give too much or too little time in certain games.

and players are no saints, if they take steroids they're probably not above cheating knowing that they won't get 'caught' the the ref.

money, glory and fame, who would say no to all this for the sake of sportsmanship?

And that's it?

So what if one of these referee has an attack of conscience and blows the whistle (hurr hurr) when he gets told to help out one of the big clubs?

if it (ref bribing or whatever) happened in the Portuguese, Italian and French leagues, why couldn't it happen at a higher level?

Portugal (and trust me, this isn't half the story)

Italy

And don't forget Belgium, we had a lot of shit two seasons ago in our first league. We blamed it on the Chinese mafia ;)

No doubt we'll manage to make it difficult, though.

Spain has an easy group: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile.
But in first-round we'll match Portugal or Ivory Coast (Brazil will surely be first, and North Korea last in that group)... so good luck & bad luck at same time.

Portugal will very likely be brutally raped by Brazil, but we only play them in the last group match, so if we do our jobs by the time we get there we're already through.

i remember in world cup 2002 our group was the USA, Poland and South Korea, and we managed not to go through. fucking embarassing, that.

Benfica defeated Porto 1-0 in Lisbon tonight, with a goal from the incredible JAVIER SAVIOLA. Real Madrid had this guy sitting on the bench for two years!

David Luiz is one of the most talented centre-backs in the world and completely nullified Porto's so-called star Hulk. magnificent game, don't be surprised if the guy pops up in Real Madrid's shopping list soon.

and just look at the asshole Porto supporters after our goal lol:

we went into the match aggressively and made it a point to score early into the match. as with every time we found ourselves winning, we didn't let the lead slip. if we can keep up this aggressive, humble attitude, i'm sure Benfica can take the league title and make a good show in the Europa League. great stuff.

"Benfica Champion"
sure hope so  :dio:

EDIT - LOL MANCHESTER UNITED GOT PWNED BY FULHAM. YEAH YEAH CARRICK AS CENTRE-BACK, BLA BLA BLA FUCK UNITED.
