You might be in luck. Neural interfaces are likely going to make this happen, bypassing the inner ear altogether. But before you get your hopes up, they have spent billions trying to interface digital and analogue and still don't have anything that is very good. We were told in college, figure out a way to get digital and analog to communicate with each other seamlessly in common applications and you will be the richest person on the planet.
