Yeah guys lets buy all of our albums and waste tons of money on shit!

I have no issues with downloading albums to sample and then buy. I downloaded both Communic albums a while back and just bought them both today. I don't see any issue with that. The problem is those that upload/download and just don't give a shit. I mean, how many times have you seen something like this:

OMG!! THE NEW AS I LAY DYING!! WHOO!!!
--Killer US Thrash Metal Album!!! Get It NOW!!--

Pffft! Yeah, the suuuuure do care about music. Then you'll see those thread that go:

SUSPYRE - THE SILVERY IMAGE! AWESOME!!
Amazing band! Support Underground Metal!!

Support via downloading for free? Makes sense. Have you ever made a comment to someone there that suggests maybe they should pay for something? Hahahaha. How many PMs or open threats did you get? I love getting albums early, and I'll never be so hypocritical to say downloading is a bad thing, but downloading and only downloading is. It makes music a novelty, people just care less about music when they don't have to, or want to, rather, sacrifice anything for it. You want a new album? Download it for free! Don't save up for it, just download it. And then people wonder why the music industry sucks and so many bands suffer more today than even 10 years ago.

[/rant]

It is pretty shit to download from extreme and underground bands that don't sell many albums anyways. I don't download because I know if I did I would never buy the albums, more power to you if you are that honest.

It is funny though, I have no issues with buying DVD's in China though.

I very rarely buy albums i've downloaded at full price, unless I only yoinked it for a sneak peak.

Usually what I do is buy the album (if I like it enough) when I see it second hand. So I guess there are certain artists I do no favours too.

BUT I never rip-off small time bands like Falconer and Lost Horizon. People need to realise if they don't buy albums from these bands they'll have to stop recording them.

No wonder Lost Horizon hasn't recorded anything new.

I don't know if I'm on the receiving end of some form of sarcasm here, but basically, yeah. Music for Nations went under, all their bands found themselves without a label, and only the ones who had actually shifted any decent amount of units could find suitable deals elsewhere.

I'd be happy with something from Wojtek. An instrumental or something.

Usually I delete albums if I like them because if I keep the MP3s too long I find myself less inclined to buy the album. For instance, I just bought Synchestra like last month. It came out in January. Devin is one of my favorite artists, but every time I went into the store I was always thinking "I've heard this, buy something else." I was also looking for the special edition that the stores never had, but I still never bought it from HevyDevy either. So, I tend to listen, if I like it I delete it. That keeps me from falling into that trap.

I'm the same way with children.

I don't buy albums I haven't heard because I'm afraid of supporting crappy bands.

I don't see how anyone can use that program. I did once for a pretty long time mostly for lack of alternatives, and it's just too much work. You have to babysitt the program.
You connect to a hub wich has a couple of thousand users (compared to just under a million users on Donkeyserver No2), get spammed by alot of messages about how you have to add some stupid signature to your username + about 50 nazi rules authored by the hubs nazi owner.
You do a search for an album only to get 5 or 6 scattered songs in different bitrate shared by idiots with 56k modems. There actually are a couple of hundred songs that fit your search-criteria, but very few people have slots open.
You start downloading a couple of songs only to discover that the download speed is about 950 byte/sec, so you stop the downloads and do another search in hope of finding a faster source. You find a few of them, but everyone you try to download from disconnects about a minute after you've started your download.
By this time you have been kicked off the hub for some reason (too many searches, WAV-files, VOB-files, child pornography (??), the name of a folder in your MP3 directory happens to include the word "temp", EXE-files...) and banned for 24 hours.

Seriously... why needs all of this?

I'm telling ya, Soulseek blows DC+ out of the water. for the very same reasons that you listed. I know everyone says how awesome DC+ is, and how much SLSK sucks, but I think these people just like headaches. I've always been able to find anything I was looking for on SLSK. The worst you have to worry about on SLSK is some queer disconnecting you for having an album that they don't like for sharing, but that usually causes hilarity to ensue.

Because its awesome. It's an elitist community, we believe that we are above all other p2p shit. You gotta obey the rvles, or get out. It's always tidy, you can always find what you want, I downloaded all the "a band from a little hut on a mountain in Finland" albums from there. It's the only downloading program that you can go into a metal room where you can find nothing else other than metal. And that's awesome.

Soulseek is by far the best there is. I mean, pay $5 a month for download privileges and it's fucking amazing. Nothing like seeing 347 people in queue and going straight to number 1. I don't download much at all, and I pay that $5 every month ($30 every 6 months). They rule.

I love when someone bans you for not sharing enough, then I usually point out that stealing isn't sharing. They get pissed and yeah, great comedy ensues.
