Go to Boston, Baltimore or Chicago. All will probably have reasonable ticket rates, and all are interesting places.

Exactly! :D

Too bad you can't make it to Kentucky! However, if you are determined on hating the USA, ElTipo's advice in seeking Miami isn't a bad idea.

I live in northern Tennessee, maybe around 50 miles away from the border. I have been to Kentucky and did not find it that sensational. For that matter, the majority of the South is not that sensational(excluding Nashville). Although there usually is more hospitality, I do not recommend going to a place like KY.
Try Maine or Massachusetts.

I agree with Chicago. Great city.

I thought I'd head for the States this summer, and after randomly determining which of the fifty states I'd head to I've come up with Kentucky. Now, is there anyone who lives there, and if so, who can tell me if there is anything at all to do there? I'm going for a week and staying at someone's place in Covington, and I will not have a car. I'm mainly interested in regular life in the States, not the New York kind of States... but I would like for something to actually do during those weeks

So tell me what you know. Music stores, interesting places, etc.

Haha did you just throw a dart at a map of the US? Why waste your time there? Come to NYC and we'll show you how it's done.

You could go to Mammoth Cave or Six Flags and such. I've never been there myself, but I imagine parts of it are really pretty, being in the foothills of the Appalachians.

Maybe check out the state's website and see what they have to say about Tourism.
Kentucky Tourism Website: Check out the "interest finder".

Should've picked the nice mountain life here in Pennsylvania. It's quiet....but other than that, the exact town I live in contains like one store, but city life is only about 10 miles away from me :P

Indeed. Where do you reside exactly? I'm in State College currently.

It seems I'm first going to Boston, at the beginning of August, then a couple of days of NY. If anyone wants to meet up for a beer, I'm game.

Like 10 miles, going there is like a daily thing.

That's a pretty cool living situation. You mentioned being located out in the sticks before, which I don't mind at all, but you aren't too far from a pretty big town either.

Sorry for the hijack. I'd like to meet you for a beer but I won't be in those cities at that time. You chose wisely with Boston and NYC. I was born in Boston, it is easily one of the best cities in the country to visit.
