Valentine's Day...

My wife and I always agree not to bother with Valentines Day, yet she always gets me something and I end up looking like a knob. Anyway, in order to conform to the capitalist packaging and comercialisation of an emotion, we are going to Montezumas (worlds greatest Mexican restaraunt ever).

Ah fuck. My girlfriend is some hundred miles away in college. It'll be a lonely Valentines day then. Anyway, I'm fuckin busy working on this German movie. Even if she was here, I wouldn't have time for her anyway.

I think you're all being cynical. Sure it's a marketing ploy for retailers to drain more cash out of the average consumer, and an excuse for woman to bust a guy's balls for not making an effort, but I want to take this moment to let all of you on Metal Reviews know that...

I'm baking a fucking cake and it's going to have "Happy Valentine's Day" written on it in icing.

It was sposed to be a big "fuck you" to the capitalist "packaging of emotions" described above by Tlaloc, in that it is nice cos I spent time on it rather than money. However, I went totally overboard buying cool stuff to put on it- dried fruit, little frosted bits of orange etc, so actually I spent quite a lot.

Anyway I'd have agreed with Jaden and all the other "fuck this shit" people until about 3 weeks ago. As it happens, I'm hoping to enjoy my Italian food tomorrow night.

That's kind of a lose/lose because when her friends talk about the nice things her boyfriend did for them then she'll "forget" what she told you and get pissed off anyways.

well i lucked out and got hit by a blizzard that imobilized town and i can't get out to go see her today. Therefore i will know when i talk to her tonight whther or not her friends got her to be in the valentines spirit.

Valentine's Day is a florist's invention (my chemistry teacher said so, so it must be true). ACtually, feb 14 is a norse holiday called Valisblot, or a Blot honoring Vali, Odin's son. So Hail To Vali! (and make a mead offering to the gods, keeps em happy)
