It's already been confirmed by Dana White that the Carwin/Velazquez fight is a number one contender bout. White also says that he's going to try his hardest to get Fedor in for a Fedor/Lesnar fight. I'll believe that when I see it though, as Dana White wants a long term contract, and Fedor's group will only sign short-term deals.
As for Frank Mir, I feel he deserved everything Lesnar gave him, and more. Remember, Lesnar showed Captain America the utmost respect, as Randy didn't run his mouth like a schoolyard bully. Mir pushed Brock's buttons, and kept harping on his WWE career, completely losing sight of the fact that Brock was a Collegiate Wrestling Champion. The whole skit he did on the Spike preview show with him punching out a fat guy and saying "This ain't fake fighting Brock" was just as classless and disrespectful as anything Brock did after he pummeled him into oblivion.
Mir did, indeed underestimate the dude.
Funny how the two biggest trash talkers were put down the hardest.
Mir didn't underestimate him. Mir made a stupid mistake. He was clearly winning the stand-up game, as brief as it was, and Lesnar looked willing to trade. But then Mir got stupid and threw a knee, and Lesnar took him down. Who does that against a wrestler that big? Stupid move on his part.
I'd like to see if Lesnar can take a real punch. Mir stunned him for a second in the beginning of round two, but Mir isn't a big puncher; he's a submission guy. Someone that can crack, however, will pose a problem for Lesnar unless his chin is rock solid. Problem is, who's going to keep Lesnar from taking them down? Anyone looking to trade punches with Lesnar is going to have a hell of a time keeping him from shooting in. And if Lesnar gets on top and doesn't make a stupid mistake...well, name a fighter strong enough to keep him from pounding them out?
