It's a typical french response. They have no hope of qualifying, so ruin another teams hopes out of spite. The whole nation is full of rats. I'm glad they're football federation is in disarray. This embarrassing behavior and the tendency for certain teams to play for draws is all that really keeps me from embracing the sport. Problem is those obstacles aren't going anywhere.

I suspect the problem is you're American, and Americans will probably never accept the sport because 1.) They suck at it, 2.) They are much to involved with sports that only they compete in, and 3.) Many Americans believe it to be an "immigrant's sport" and want no part of it.

One day Americans will realize that you can't call yourself a world champion (NBA, MLB, NFL, etc.) until the rest of the world competes against you.

So blame the flopping all you want, but honestly, have you watched a basketball game. You can't even look at somebody cross-eyed without drawing a foul. Football (soccer) involves crunching tackles with limited proteciton. So for every three floppers, there are 4 who just got fuckin wrecked.

This article on the USA and "soccer" is one of my favourite things... the journo died of cancer last year. I don't know how accurate it is, though.

I don't disagree with you at all. And I am done watching basketball for good; the officiating is such a huge turnoff.

Football played well is worthy of being called 'beautiful', I can't deny that. A lot of American bias to the game is just old cultural attitudes dying hard, I suppose.

Tis a shame. Apart from the assholes who dive, the game is beautiful.

And I really think there should be review of the referee's decisions. THat is my biggest peave, that FIFa totally trusts referees who have time and time again been shown to be wrong.
