In all fairness, we made you look fucking awesome last night.. Carolina are far too inconsistent this year to put on a push for the playoffs this year I think. But we'll see.

I don't know, calling Gleason out after the game was fine, even if he hadn't seen the replay. It was in the heat of battle after all. But several weeks later? Come on! And him going on about sportsmanship and cheap shots, going after the smallest player (LaRose) that game for his first fight?

Larose may be small, but Mac is what, 5'11"? Definitely not a big man. As for the last game, it was only 10 days ago. Just look at the Boston-Dallas game, first shift was a fight between Ott and Campbell, who have a history and haven't played each other in almost 2 years.

Trades!

Toronto Maple Leafs trade d-man Francois Beauchemin to Anaheim Ducks for Joffrey Lupul, prospect Jake Garidner, and a conditional draft pick in 2013.

Phoenix Coyotes trade goalie Al Montoya to New York Islanders for a 5th round draft pick.

Florida Panthers trade Michael Frolik and a goalie prospect to Chicago Panthers for Jack Skille, a prospect and a minor leaguer.

Ottawa Senators trade Mike Fisher to Nashville Predators for a 1st round draft pick this year and a conditional draft pick next year.

Western Conference playoff race is brutal, all competing teams are winning. All Pacific Division teams are in it as well. Not feeling very confident.

I hope the Kings don't do something stupid like trading a bunch of assets for short term rentals just to make it in. I'd really like a trade for an impact scoring forward that fits with the team long term but can't say there are too many of those available.

Kessel for Simmonds and a 1st but I'd settle for a 2nd.

I'm surprised that nobody seems to be talking about the fact that Chicago could potentially miss the playoffs.

It's not that surprising considering the roster overhaul they did this summer. But yeah, I definitely see them as a team that could do some damage in the playoffs.

Yeah they lost Byfuglien but he was playing as a forward and there's no shortage of talent up front for them. Same thing with Ladd. They did lose Niemi but you would think Turco would be fine with that defense in front him, which really didn't change at all.

A few spots down in the standings wouldn't have surprised me but to miss the playoffs completely? That's a shocker.

Well, Turco's stats are abysmal considering how talented his defense is; no surprise considering how bad he's been for a while now.

The funny thing is Niemi was considered a lucky fluke last year with that defense...and yet he's been playing very well of late in San Jose. Chicago screwed up their goalie situation.

For the first half this year it really did look like Niemi was a fluke but it looks like he's gone back to his old style.

By the way, who is Deathworshippers in the fantasy league? I gotta say for someone who has literally done nothing with their team, he's doing pretty damn well.

Versteeg to Flyers for 1st and 3rd. Burke supposedly offered that 3rd to a team already.. Thoughts?

I liked Versteeg a lot when he was in Chicago, and would love to see him in Carolina, haven't followed him closely in Toronto though.

EDIT: aaaand Toronto trades for Aaron Voros. Adds some size at least, but what are they trying to accomplish with that? DW?

Voros will be with the Marlies. Colton Orr is out with a concussion so Jay Rosehill has taken his spot on the Leafs, Voros is just filling his spot in the A.

It's been a long time since the Leafs beat both Boston and Buffalo in the same week. Only 6 points behind Carolina and the 8th playoff spot. Not holding my breath, but we are only 3 wins out.

With Carolina's recent form, you shouldn't deny it.. Sabres are looking strong despite the loss though. Anyway, how about that injury situation in Vancouver? What? 6 Defensemen?

Brian Elliot traded to Colorado Avalanche for Craig Anderson.

Weird.

That was odd

White a cratch tonight, rumours been circling for three days now, I'm guessing Vancouver. Also, heard Burke say that Toronto's not done. Next week is gonna be fun.

oh and, Colborne, Boston's 1st in 2011 and a conditional pick for Kaberle the basis of the trade. Trade call still has to be made to close the deal.

lots of trades in the last 24+ hours.

Ian White traded to San Jose for a 2nd round pick.

Derek Joslin traded to Carolina for future considerations.

Eric Brewer traded to Tampa Bay for a prospect (Brock Beukeboom) and a 3rd round pick.

Rich Peverley and Boris Valabik traded to Boston for Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart.

Jarko Ruutu traded to Anaheim for a 6th round pick.

Paul Mara traded to Montreal for a 5th round pick.

and obviously

Tomas Kaberle traded to Boston for prospect Joe Colborne, a 1st round pick, and a conditional 2nd round draft pick in 2012.

longest running Leafs now: Luke Schenn, Mikhail Grabovski, and Nikolai Kulemin. Can anybody say, youngest team in the league?

Crazy night, I wonder what sparked it

Erik Johnson/Jay McClement for Chris Stewart/Kevin Shattenkirk, some draft picks involved as well. That's a surprising trade to say the least.

Alex Goligolski was traded for James Neal and Matt Niskanen

I'm pretty sure the Penguins got the upper hand in that trade.

imagine next season when Neal plays with either Crosby or Malkin. Deadly.
