Why did Algeria get so horribly caught out of position on that? Play for the draw until stoppage time?

Credit though, you came back well. Glad you got through.

Half-hearted cheer for our side, too. Should have won by more.

It was a great game, but fucking tense in the second half. A few defensive heroics were nice to see. Our Boys should have won by more, tis true. Missed some sitters and got occasionally unlucky as well. Still, we got our shit together at last, hooray!

DONOVAN

Damn, that shit is intense.

On a side note, why do the Brits want Ghana to win and the Americans want Germany to win? I'm not a football person...

Neither wants to play Germany in the next round.

Yep.

In fact I think Ozul's goal effectively ended England's world cup

USA gets a dream matchup on the weak side of the bracket. Meanwhile, England and Germany, two of the few remaining teams I like, will beat on each other.

For the next few days every talking head in the media will now harangue me for not loving the beautiful game.

don't see England beating Germany. Fabio Capello usually gives his teams a more steely attitude, but even against Slovenia England were kind of shaking, so i really don't fancy their chances.

Whaddya mean? This is one of many reasons why the game is so beautiful. We beat Deutschland, then we're up against the Argies - that's like two grudge matches in a row!

Portugal v Brazil will be a great game, though, whatever happens.

Ha ha, England playing Germany and Argentina will be like the country fighting its last two wars all over again. Should make for great football. Can't decide who the Brits hate more though. At any rate, Viva Espana. All nations shall crumble before the might of La Furia Roja. Friday will be an intense match against a good Chile side. At to it all the cultural and historical animosity that South Americans have towards Spaniards and you have for one hell of a game.

Well, after last night's 2-1 defeat of Serbia, the Australians managed a loss, a draw and a win for 4 points and they finished third in group D.

After they began their campaign with a 4-0 arse whooping at the hands (feet?) of the germans, I'm actually pretty proud of them.

don't know if Mexico qualifies as south america, but they seem to be pretty friendly with Spain.

Italy v Slovakia was a proper thriller. So glad I fucked off work to go watch it in the pub. Well done Slovakia- but jesus, some of their cheating trying to timewaste was absolutely beyond pathetic. Almost had me willing on Italy.... but then they're just as bad so who cares!
