So I started reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy today, and damn, it's one of the toughest things I've ever read. I think noodles mentioned earlier that he read it all in a day, and I don't know how the fuck he did that...it's written in sentence fragments with minimal description and lots of metaphors so you basically have to concentrate on each word just to pick up what's going on. Still, I'm gonna read further (just 25 pages in) because it's supposed to be amazing and so far it is quite good, just really difficult.

i was kinda expecting that. it's actually a lot easier to read than any of his other booksi've read

I've been wanting to check that out.

Tropic of Cancer doesn't seem as good as everyone makes it out to be.

Finished the last Harry Potter book. I'm really glad I decided to finish the series. Children's literature or not, those books are really easy to read, and really easy to fall into.

Now starting The Fellowship Of The Ring

just finished Choke by Chuck Palahniuk, excellent. the story was good, but the themes and ideas i think were the best part. definitely recommended.

Didn't like it so much. I thought it was overrated. There is a movie out now for it.

Yeah the Potter books, unlike the films, are good stuff.

As far of the LOTR books go, I actually prefer the Silmarillion to LOTR since there are no gay hobbits and most of the book is filled with a lot of elf/human/demigod slaying events.

Besides the fact that Blind Guardian made an awesome album about it.

Well, considering that Dumbledore dies in the book before the last, I doubt it, but I guess it's hard for Rowling to stop writing these cash cows/books.

"It was announced on 31st July that the book will be published for the general public on December 4, 2008, with the proceeds going to charity"

yes! damn her for being a charity's cash cow

i thought the Harry Potter movies i've seen so far have been as entertaining as the books.

I have almost 3 weeks off between semesters so I picked up a few books this past weekend to keep me busy. I had to take a humanities class last semester and David Hume's thoughts interested me quite a bit, hence the two books by him.

*Teacher Man-Frank McCourt

*Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion-David Hume

*A Treatise of Human Nature-David Hume

*Essential Teachings-The Dalai Lama

*The Buddhist Path To Simplicity-Christina Feldman
