Yuck. That movie made me want to kill myself just to escape the badness.

It was somewhat based off of "Off Season" a novel by Jack Ketchum which is very, very, very brutal but not as bad as his The girl next door which is stomach churning.

Saw "Letters from Iwo Jima". Great movie, one of the best war movies I've ever seen. Interesting how they did it from the Japanese perspective.

I've also seen "V for Vendetta" since I was last here...I thought that was excellent as well.

Just watched "The Brothers Grimm". Nice funny action/mystery movie but nothing special though. Something of the likes of 5-6/10.

Yeah, I expected better from Gilliam, but it wasn't dreadful.

Started watching We Don't Live Here Any More (Naomi Watts, Mark Ruffalo) and fell asleep halfway through...

Nacho Libre - ok, 6/10. I expected more from Jack Black

good movie, though Mos Def's voice gets really annoying after about 10 mins. 7.5 /10

Just saw Children of Men this afternoon.

The movie is Half-Life 2 meets the Nativity Story. The guns even sound like HL2. The movie is filled with dystopian ideas (ex: Refugees in cages, terrorism wiping out landmark cities, govt funded suicides, propaganda screens on public transportation). The action starts out of nowhere and it tends to slow down in spots but once it picks up again you stay on the edge of your seat. The acting is really good on everyone's parts and the environment is really believable.

It is my pick for the best movie of 06 but I haven't seen pan's labyrinth yet so I may change that.

All you need to expect from Jack Black is for him to yell "RAWK" a lot, while bugging his eyes out and doing that five-finger pointy thing with his hand.

I saw Babel yesterday. When I got out of the theater, I pretty much thought it sucked...boring movie where nothing happens. Yet today, I've been thinking about it a lot and shitty movies definitely don't do that. My final verdict is that is was a boring movie but with some good movie elements. Definitely not a Best Picture, though.

I just actually finished the Squid and the Whale. It was OK, but it seemed like none of the characters really had any redeaming traits. It was still well written and managed to get across quite a few things in an hour and 15 minutes.

It was a great film! Jeff Daniels has really come up in the world since Dumb N' Dumber.

Watched this great English film called Jack And Sarah, with The Guy From "Withail & I" In It. Think that rubbish Kevin Smith one, 'Jersey Girl, but good. It's got Ian McKellen in it and everything.

And watched Talladega Nights. The only Will Ferrel film so far that's actually had me laughing more than once an hour, but still pretty crappy for comedy. And WTF was with Sasha Baron Cohen? He sounded like a drunk uncle trying to do a Peter Sellers inpersonation.

i saw an inconvenient truth last night... Good, but since it was aimed at american audiences who are less environmentally aware than europeans, it didn't hit me that hard. Still, good movie.

I saw it as well, in my french class on Friday. Good film, but I'm not sure why the audience was laughing during some parts when he was giving his slideshow.

Edison - By god, Justin Timberlake can't act. And do American coppers really get flamethrowers?

Secretary - this movie is awesome. It goes from sad to hilariously twisted by the end. Maggie Gyllenhal has a purty smile.

Great film.

RW - Big Trouble In Little China - Awesome, awesome film.

The Black Dahlia - Not awesome at all. Suspiciously similar to (the better) LA Confidential, it still somehow manages to be an entertaining film, but not one I particularly liked. The only truly good actors in there were Aaron Eckhart and Hilary Swank, who has more talent in her little finger than Scarlett Johansson has in her entire body. And yes, the cute terrorist from 24 was in it, and it was funny in a 'how-the-hell-did-they-get-away-with-this-shit?' way at the end, but overall a miss from THE MAN THAT MADE SCARFACE. And noir was never that good, anyway.

By which you must mean "the absolutely shit hot terrorist from 24 was in it." Man I wouldn't know where to start with her.

After seeing The Last King of Scotland I have decided that I want Forest Whitaker to be be made the King of Scotland. :dio:
