I've been playing NHL 08 in anticipation of the new hockey season.
Can't wait to get my hands on NHL 09 which looks really promising!

NHL 09 will be one of the best hockey games in a long time. And it will be the first EA game to pry me away from the 2K series in over 3 years. 2K9 looks like shit this year. Plus the problems I had with 2K8 scared me away.

NHL 08 was awesome last year and got best sports game award by IGN and others critics sites. This year 09 seems to be even better. I also learn today that they will have a Montreal Canadien classic team in the game to celebrate The habs century anniversary. The team will be composed of Rocket Richard and guy Lafleur amongst others and will be no match for all teams except the allstar ones. Sounds like a really cool feature for fans like me!

You know funny thing is last october I only had a Wii and I got fed up of the lack of interesting games and of Hockey games so I purchased a PS3 for the sole purpose of playing NHL 2008. lol!

I have barely touched my Wii ever since with the exception of Mario Kart. Don't get me wrong though I like the Wii and it's potential but so far apart from some first party games no game really takes advantage of the Wii's strengths and we get half baked games 80% of the time...

I can understand... There are times when I do get very frustrated with me Wii and that I wish I had bought an XBox 360. Still, recently it seems that some third party games have been getting better... The last three games I've bought have been third party and all three of them were done extremely well, and have great wii controls (for example, after playing with the controls for Medal of Honour: Heroes 2, I don't see how I could ever play with the duel joystick setup again). And nearly all the games I'm looking forward to this year and next are third party, like The Conduit, The Force Unleashed, Tales of Symphonia and Call of Duty 5.

But yep, the PS3 and X Box seem to have much stronger lineups over the next year, and it is pretty sad that the Wii can't even get NHL games for itself. Still, do dust off your Wii, because there are some great games for it, besides the obvious first party ones (ie, Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Smash Bros)- you just need to hunt them out.

I've been waiting for Tales of Symphonia II forever, really anticipating that game.Any RPG game for the Wii will be seriously looked at by me like for exemple Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon. I'll also get around to purchasing Medal of Honour Heroes II, I've only heard great things about that game. The problem with MHH2 is that , their are plenty of games in the shooter category and I had decided to get COD4 instead at the time.

Oh ya, and I don't doubt that COD4 is a much better game- I think just about everyone is tired as shit of World War II games. But MoH is worth it for the controls, and since I only have a Wii, for the 32 player online multiplayer- but if you have games like COD4 and others like that, thats probably not as big a bonus for you.

And I just noticed you're from Quebec, which explains the RDS link! Where in Quebec are you from?

Actually I grew up in Montreal (West Island), my family still lives around Pierrefonds. I "Exiled" myself , for a job offer 4 years ago when I finished university. I now live in Cap Rouge very close to Ste-Foy which are both part of Quebec City since the fusions.

Mainly Soul Calibur IV recently, which is odd seeing as I've never really been into fighting games.

Also a lot of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 with a friend, sooooooo much fun co-op.

Ah DAMMIT. Long story short, there's only 1 ethernet cable that can reach my room and it's being used for something else at the moment, so I can't connect to live until sometime late tomorrow :(

What is it like?! Is it awesome? Seriously, it has to be, don't break my heart man :(

I am grateful for that and I'm hoping its good, but still... The NHL series has always been better than the 2K series, and this one has the all star habs team, which is orgasmtastic for me.

I've played through it twice now, and let me tell you no hearts will be broken. It is freakin' awesome. I think in just a few minutes i will go and play through it again. Then hell maybe 1 more time after that. Do yourself a favour and get you 360 jooked up so you can play this bad boy. September 16th can't come soon enough.

I can't wait for NHL 09. I've been playing the PC version every season since NHL 99 but they keep getting worse. They put no effort into the PC version anymore, NHL 08 was basically NHL 07, which wasn't that great to begin with. They are so much better on consoles these days that I just might have to purchase one.

Not to start a hockey who is better war, but here gos: NHL 2K was better than NHL 2004. NHL 2K5 was better than NHL 05. NHL 2K6 was better than NHL 06. NHL 2K7 was better than NHL 07, EA thinks they are so original with the joystick to move the stick, hmm 2K had already had that since the first 2K hockey game. I liked NHL 2K8 better than the OMH the graphics are so pretty NHL 08. The only time where EA will truely win in my books is this upcoming year. Where 09 looks vastly superior.
