There's a lunar eclipse tonight. I'm sure it's past for most of you, though. I'm pretty excited to see it. But that's only because I'm a science nerd.

I'm at GMT+1 and it's gonna start in about 4 hrs here but I don't think I'll be awake then. If I had not been swimming maybe I would stay but now after 4 klms it's not so easy. Plus I've already seen a couple of lunar eclipses and a solar one so the novelty is a bit worn out.

I still can't believe that annoying shit about the cooking rat won an Oscar... And what exactly was so amazing about Tilda Swinton in Michael Clayton? Still, it's the closest she's ever looked to being an actual female, maybe that took lots of Acting.

I really want to see No Country for Old Men, looks amazing.

And what was so bad about Ratatouille? One of the better animated movies I've seen...intelligent and actually didn't rely on pop culture references to be funny.

Anyways, the only reward I was kinda disappointed with was Ellen Page not winning Best Actress. I'd never even heard of the movie that the winner performed in.

Meh. Unfunny, dull, paper-thin characters, talking rodents, annoying lead characters, the usual. Happy Feet had a bit of emotion to it, at least...

Again, meh. She's in her early twenties, as long as she doesn't do a Heath Ledger I'm sure her chance will come. Ditto Keira Knightley, who keeps getting better every time I see her.

Happy Feet would have been decent enough if it didn't sloppily trip all over itself and lose all sense of direction to puke up the obligatory "save the environment" message. That just made me angry.

And I think they should go back to hand-drawn animation. All CGI movies seem pretty lifeless to me. :\

Happy Feet won because of baby penguins. Even Nicole Kidman singing couldn't spoil that. What's the Ratatouille equivalent, a rather chubby-faced French female stereotype? They're just getting lazy with them, as Legacy said.

Yeah, she'll definitely win some stuff in the future. I just thought she did an exceptional job as Juno...one of the only times I've come away from a movie impressed with a performance, really.

And I dunno, I thought Ratatouille was okay . I dunno how you can say that old animated movies were better though...they may be good in your memories, but if you've watched Snow White or the like recently, they suck...horribly. A lot worse than modern stuff, at least.

Hello everyone.
How's everyone doing? I haven't been posting here for quite some time. Besides from having been in a prolonged antisocial period, I have been very busy writing on my masters thesis and searching for possible post-graduate PhD stipends while trying to make some music and a lot of other things coming together in a nice big stressful mishmash of different things that I would like to do, but cannot find the time. Therefore I have had little time to listen to -and even less to discuss- music. It is my intention to start posting again -perhaps sporadically at times- as some of my many projects are quieting down for some time. There are discussions to be had and many fine musics to be found.

Thank you.. I'm not a real economist either. More of a general empiricist specialising in behavioral models.
