Stephen, I bet you'd be the first to say there is a Big Oil Lobby that has a certain amount of influence over the US government, members of Congress and the election process. Or a Sugar Lobby, or a Corn Lobby, etc. Yet somehow certain lobby groups don't exist or aren't real or don't exert any influence.

Note we are not talking about control, but influence. Not saying that anybody holds the puppet strings.

Or even more to the point, the Christian Right's influence.

Nice summary, and you are right, they are a huge part of the pro-israel lobby. I suppose they think it has something to do with their ticket to heaven. If you are ever inclined, this is a good read (if you haven't read it already)

It's pretty interesting, especially how going against "the lobby" is paramount to political suicide, or at least being marginalized to the point it may as well be.
