Sorry about starting the whole console wars thing, my bad, probably just my pissed off reaction to finding out that Red Alert 3 is on hold for PS3 and it will probably be scrapped. Ideally, I'd get it on PC, but my PC blows.

It was no war man, it was all civilized talk :P
Can't say as much on other forums though...

100% agree, you should see the ridiculousness that is the console wars on the gametrailers.com forums.

Call of Duty 4...on a PS3

god it sucked compared to the 360. hosts kept ending games, connections for every player were always 1 or 2 bars, connection interuptions every other match, every idiot using a voice modifier, people crying that they can't snipe on this level and ending the game, all of this got quite annoying. You may have to pay for X-Box Live, but you can tell that they try at Microsoft to get their online to work. I really wanted to get a PS3, but this has really slowed down the process.

Give me a break dude, I've been playing this since December online, with no problems whatsoever..... i'm like in my fifth prestige mode so if it was as awful as you're saying I'd never have gotten that far. As for the whiny players there is as many on xbox than ps3 and if the voices annoyed you that much you could have simply muted the players that were bothering you.

The problems I expereinced on the PS3 were much worse than anything I have experienced on my 360. My buddy who owns the PS3 complains about the exact same shit as I just did.

Not trying to add to it, i'm just saying what I know. And it ends here.

Now Playing: Call of Duty 4 - I will never stop playing this game.

Also Fallout 3 and Fable 2 come out next month, I wonder which one I will play more.

Well, Half Life 2 ran - slowly, but it ran - until the moment I wanted to save a game. When it crashed. I really need an upgrade, even Baldur's Gate won't get past the intro vid.

Hitman 2 works ok now, weirdly.

Crysis Warhead - Fun. Very much fun. With great graphics and sound. But sadly that's about it. I'm beginning to wonder if this is actually what I want, having finished Fallout-2 7 times, I still prefer the story to the beauty.

Oh and I haven't finished the first Crysis yet. I probably will now. But I can't fight the urge to re-install Deus-ex too. Now that was a story.

Yeah, Deus Ex is such a cool game, everything about it is basically perfect.

You should try Planescape Torment for a good story.

So I'm trying to find something for me and my friend to play over the internet, something casual that doesn't require a massive install. I tried looking for multi player tower defences but only managed to find one. Anyone got any ideas?

Is that included in the Beyond the Sword expansion? I've only explored a few of the other settings offered in that pack.

No it's a stand alone game based on the CIV IV engine. It's priced as an expension game would but is not one. Totally worth my 29.99 canadian dollars.

From what i've seen after 4 hours of play, they changed bits here and there but the core is mainly the same.

Changes:
- You can now play online/Network games
- You now compete against other countries to be the first to declare independance.
- There is a political menu, and you have to discuss with king to obtain reinforcements. They were offered in the previous game.
- You compete against other countries to recruit the founding Fathers. So once a rival has a founding father no one can have him.
- There is a new unit to take care for the horses so that they reproduce.
-Pionneers don't exhaust their tools and can be automated to improve neighboring colonies.
- A defeated dragoon, does not revert to a soldier when defeated, It simply dies.
- any unit can create a colony (I don't recall this being the case)
- The Natives are more detailed. When you visit a native village their specialty is identified below the village's name. Alot easier to manage what your free colonists can learn.
- Their is a choice of Leaders forf each nation that give different bonuses.
- The king can not only still raise taxes, he now can demande tributes.

That's all I can think of for now. Yes there are many changes but the core of the game remains intact and is till really addictive.

Is that the one that was recently released for consoles? Or a different one? I have always been interested in this series but have never had the best computer to play them. I know one was released for the consoles, and I have seriously been thinking about getting it.

Do you mean Civ: Revolution? I have it on 360 and it's pretty good, goes to show ya that you can put a strategy game on a console and make it work perfectly. I have not played much of the other Civ games, so i can't tell you if its any better or worse than any of it previous iterations.

NP: Star Wars Force Unleashed, BIA: Hell's Highway, Baja - Edge Of Control (360)

They're making Ragnarok Online for the DS :D!

That's a game I've always been meaning to check out, but never got round to. I hope they port it well.

Civ revolution is more like Civ II than anything else. It's been dumb down to make the micro management easier (less management). But I've heard only good things about the 360 and PS3 version from my friends who play continuously. As for me, I prefer playing the complexe version that is Civ IV because my PC although very old is capable of playing without a hitch.

But Civ IV: Colonization is not Civilization, it's from the same creator and uses the same engine, but it's a totally different gaming experience altogether.

Ragnarok Online is shit. It's all about grinding. Nothing else.
