Gonna start Beowulf/Grendel for school. Man, this English class I have is like non-stop reading...I don't have time for anything else.

My homework for tonight (along with a page for German and an economics test) was to read 100 pages of Beloved. Which takes me two hours, but completely ruins the reading pleasure.

George R.R. Martin, if you've not already. Awesome stuff.

Tell me what you've read so far and liked and I'll get some recommendations out. But ya, if you haven't read Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire (first book A Game of Thrones), listen to Zad.

yeah, i read East of Eden a couple months ago and really enjoyed it. school-type books are more fun when you read them without the whole "omg analyze the details and symbolism and references and gonna have to write an essay about it" mindset that comes with reading them for school.

Well... I won'r brag about my litterature knowledge. But I love The lord of the rings, and do enjoy Harry Potter and the Inheritance cycle. Even though I didn't like the latest book very much. The Hobbit and the earlier Tolkien works is damn good too. I'm also interested in historic events.

A Game of Thrones, huh? Sounds interesting. Anything else by Martin I should look into? I read a pretty neat book by Wilbur Smith once which I liked alot.

I love Kafka so much. I need to check out more of his stuff but if you haven't already read The Metamorphosis I recommend it. The Trial is decent but you have to realize it isn't going anywhere and immerse yourself in the futility of it all.

Heh, read Metamorphosis when I was 5. Not that I was a child prodigy, it was lying around and I thought "this is about a man who turns into a bug, this is cool..."

The Picture of Dorian Gray for class. Our library doesn't have it so I have to read it on my god damn computer screen, there is no way in hell this can be healthy for my eyes. If only there was a way to change the background colour in a simple text file, maybe I could change it to a less face melting colour, like blue. Oh well, it's only thirteen chapters.

Yeah, the movie is based off of a (comic) book. Following the Reaper, how did you like Black Hole? I've been busy reading for school, mainly Red Hot and Righteous, which was a history of the Salvation Army, The Sheik which was a wacky rape fantasy that was popular for some reason, and currently I'm reading A Passage to India. I managed to work in some comic book reading by recently picked up the first Scott Pilgrim and Preacher. Scott Pilgrim was funny and, I don't know, heartwarming, I guess? I'm not too far into Preacher, though. I liked Garth Ennis's take on the Punisher, and I've heard good things about Preacher, so we'll see how it goes.

Of all books, Dorian Gray is ridiculously easy to find in any second hand bookstore. I'd go for it if I were you, because computer reading is the balls.

Marcuse is but rarely do I get any time to read it while reading the other three for school. I hate Plato and I hate Kant.

Plato's dialogues are discussions that retarded monkeys would have. None of his rebuttals or arguments are legitimate while there are so many objections which could be made to what he is saying. Kant just rambles in the densest of wording whilst never actually saying based on empirical data just what he thinks how things are. I get that they are influential but it doesn't mean they aren't ridiculous.
