I feel great (which is getting increasingly rare these days). My vacation has inspirited and revitalised me both spiritually and physically. There are few things as astoningshly beautiful, melancholic and majestic as the northern parts of the Scottish highlands. Very recommended for those of you who might like wandering and climbing.

Sounds like you need some time off as well Zad. Rip some days out of the calender, go for a walk in the mountains, get some peace of mind.

I live only a hundred miles or so from the Highlands and I've never been. I suck.

I'll fix this problem eventually.

Really! You should go when you get the chance. You could even go for a weekend trip or something. I stayed a couple of days in the area around Pitlochry, climbing a few munroes and walking the area. Beautiful nature. So you don't even have to go further north than that to get some awesome walking trails and good (although not too challenging) climbing experiences. Carn Mairg (Gaelic for 'the rock of sorrow' I believe? Do you speak Gaelic?) and Schiehallion are not too hard, but very rewarding. North of Inverness and Isle of Skye are amazing though. Perhaps it would be less amazing for people that do not share my love for fog, haha, but it is still very recommendable.

Very few Scottish people speak Gaelic now, its a dead language. I wish I did, though.

Eventually I'll get a few of my friends in the back of a car with some tents and a load of booze and we'll go bask in the majesty of nature.

And maybe some time I'll even try the walking around the hills thing. Nature rocks my frock.

Haha.. Me too. Nature is teh rules.

Up north they seemed to speak it.. Or they might just have too much accent for me to be able to comprehend what they said when they spoke to each other. Some guy on Skye told me that half of the population up there could speak it. The signs were also with Gaelic names on them. He could have been bullshitting me though.

A trip with tents and alcohol up there would have every prerequisite of becoming awesome.

Yeah people in the north and on the islands still speak it. Most of Scotland's population is now in the Central Belt (between Glasgow and Edinburgh) - its like a different country to the Highlands.

Copenhagen, Denmark. I was just on your island on vacation. No mountains around here. I'm half Norwegian though and have spend all my vacations when I was a child in the mountains of Norway. Thats probably when I developed my love for them.

@ Radagast:

Yes. I noticed when I crossed into the Highlands (I came from the south) that the whole 'culture' is somewhat different. Even the people were a little different from the people in the Lowlands.

Heh.. I was referring to all the Europe bashing that seem to have been going on around here lately. I'm flattered however that my grammar can pass for a native English speaker

I can't sleep right now and I have a headache because I didn't sleep long enough. Curse you insomnia! And the fucking crows who have fights with each other right outside my window, and if I close my window it pwns my air flow so it gets too hot and I have no oxygen.

advertise a metal cd!

everyone in my class pretty much hates metal, and I have to 'enage' the audience, so I'm advertising and Air Guitar :)

i'm feeling pretty good, but that assignment is still tomorrow, and its still gonna suck :(
