Yeah, I agree that they should be punished, but the punishment should fit the crime. Like if Juve rigged the games to be champions, it should be revoked and they should give the trophy back. They should deduct the points of the games rigged and decide the previous seasons standings that way. And heavy fines, games without spectators are also ok, but demoting is extreme. Football is what gets the damage from that, the teams and their board of directors are the ones that should be punished.

GALATASARAY ARE THE CHAMPIONS

The stadium was a complete hell today. An amazing game and a championship, I've seen nothing like this in my life because the champion wasn't decided until the last second of the season. Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray had the same points and had their games at the same time. Galatasaray won and the Fenerbahçe game was a tie. Now the funny thing is the Fener. game went to 16 minutes of extra time. It was a complete setup (yeah you read that right 16 fucking mins). But they couldn't win and we became champions, I've never been so happy about a championship in my life. Because this time we defeated the powers outside the pitch, and our rival's money and their influence on the referees as well. Amazing, this was fucking legendary.

Sixteen minutes? That's a fucking disgrace. Well done indeed to you guys, beating the bastards like that must feel pretty damn sweet.

Yep, makes 5 minutes at Manchester United seem pretty trivial.

The thing is that the single individuals that organized this bullshit should be punished, not the entire team.

FUCK! FUCKING SCOLARI! FUCKING INCOMPETENT PIECE OF SHIT! he called 2 players that didn't even play this season, among a few other mistakes. here's the Portuguese squad for WC2006:

GK
Ricardo (Sporting Lisbon)
Quim (Benfica)
Bruno Vale (Estrela da Amadora)

Defense:
-RB:
Miguel (Valencia)
Paulo Ferreira (Chelsea FC)
-LB:
Marco Caneira (Sporting Lisbon)
Nuno Valente (Everton)
-CB:
Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea)
Fernando Meira (Stutgart)
Ricardo Costa (FC Porto)
(Caneira can also play in the middle)

Midfield:
-Defensive Midfield:
Petit (Benfica)
Costinha (Dinamo Moscow/No club)
Others:
Tiago (Lyon)
Maniche (Dinamo Moscow/Chelsea)
Hugo Viana (Valencia)
Deco (FC Barcelona)
Luís Boa Morte (Fulham)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)
Simão Sabrosa (Benfica)
Luís Figo (Inter Milan)

Attack:
Pauleta (Paris Saint-Germain)
Nuno Gomes (Benfica)
Hélder Postiga (Saint Éttiene)

----------------

WHAT
THE
FUCK
IS
WRONG
WITH
THIS
GUY?!

Costinha barely played this season, and frankly he's been playing terribly for the national team as well. FC Porto has a real powerhouse called Raul Meireles who could've been called up. then again, Meireles is young and with little AA experience, but he could still have been called earlier to solve that.

Hugo Viana barely played this season as well, and Benfica had Manuel Fernandes and Sporting had João Moutinho, two youngsters who regularly play in the starting 11 for their clubs, so they're not exactly inexperienced.

also he didn't call up Ricardo Quaresma, who was vital in FC Porto's championship this season and considered Player of the Year in Portugal. Quaresma, Fernandes and Moutinho will all play for the u-21 squad (even though they could be called up for both competitions).

Ricardo Costa is a mediocre player, on the other hand Benfica had Ricardo Rocha (who can play center, left AND right) and Sporting had Tonel, both players who got positive comments for their performances this season.

Postiga scored like 2 goals this season, on the other hand João Tomás did a great season and took his team (Sporting Braga) to the UEFA Cup for next season, but wasn't called up.

i can already see Costinha being the undisputed starter in the team despite his awful perfomances for the team and his lack of shape (he's been training alone half the season, since he left Dinamo Moscow) and Pauleta playing 90 minutes EVERY MATCH no matter how many chances he misses.

FUCK SCOLARI!

if he doesn't reach the semi-finals AT LEAST, he'd better not sign the contract extension, or i'll got and beat him myself. he's picked his shitty team against the opinions of most fans and sports writers, if he doesn't achieve anything there is simply no excuse now.

Yup, Eric Gerets is krieg. I like him. I've never seen a coach develop such a communication with his players. Everytime a goal is scored everybody goes and gives him a high five, haha. Everybody loves the guy.

Cause of hilarity every time someone uses Portugal on Pro Evoluion Soccer.

Seriously, though- 3 Strikers? Lame... And yeah, one of them is Pauleta.

I saw him play only in major tournaments and he looked average at best, but apparently he's the biggest goalscorer in Portuguese history, ahead of Eusebio even. What's the deal with that?

what's wrong with Quim in PES? crappy keeper?

in real life he's pretty decent, imo.

Ricardo is an odd one, before WC2002 he was in great shape for both his club, Boavista, and for the national team, but for some reason, after having played the whole qualification he was put in the bench in favour of Baía (who sucked ass in 2002), a year or two later he went to Sporting Lisbon and started sucking/kicking ass/sucking/kicking ass/sucking YOU GET THE POINT. i hate these "unpredictable" players.

Pauleta - Eusébio has 41/64, while Pauleta has 43/80 (goals/matches). also, Pauleta scores his goals 3 or 4 at a time against teams like Slovakia, Liechtenstein, Kuwait and cº, on the other hand Eusébio played the '66 English team, Lev Yashin's Soviet Union and Pele's Brazil.
like i said before, against decent teams Pauleta almost never scores. in WC2002 he only scored a hat trick against Poland (our group's last placed team), in Euro 2004 he was what you all saw. Pauleta is probably the player i hate the most. i honestly hope he breaks a leg so he doesn't play in the WC. why the FUCK Scolari still lets him play starting (let alone for the whole 90 minutes) is beyond me.

Portugal hasn't had a great striker since Rui Águas, in the mid-90's. Sá Pinto was quite good, but he punched the coach in the face (he didn't get called for some competition) and was banned from Portuguese football for 3 years or something, and before Euro 2000 he got injured (Nuno Gomes's big break... back when Pauleta was where he belonged - IN THE FUCKING BENCH!).

Quim is regional English slang for a part of the female anatomy

Well, yes... Pauleta doesn't really have a good reputation over here. I guess the closest we have to a Sacred Cow is Beckham, although when he is playing at his best he is still very important to the team.

Beckham can do wonders when he's inspired; Pauleta can play so-so when he's inspired (i'm talking about matches that actually matter here, not friendlies against Kuwait).

Eriksson gets a lot of shit but he's a great coach, especially compared to Scolari. he's stubborn just for the sake of it, and has more than one holy cow. i don't care if he was world champion, with that team in 2002 he didn't do more than his obligation.

Thing about beckham is we don't get to see him play a lot so we can't be sure of what kind of from he is in, same with Hargreves. We all know what beckham can do when he is on from but we all saw him at the last world cup (ok he may have been less then 100%) and he didn't shine at all.

I've not seen Pauleta play much at all but 43/80 isn't to bad at all! And comparing him with one of the best players ever in Eusebio is maybe a bit harsh. But i have'nt seen much of the guy, who would you rather see play??

it's harsh for Pauleta do be compared to "the black panther", but it's also wrong rate Pauleta so highly considering who he scores against (this is FACT).

Frankly Portugal doesn't have a single world-class striker. imo Nuno Gomes is the best, but his problem is he works better in a duo than alone (and Portugal usually plays 4-5-1), then again he can still score (against decent teams, i mean), like we saw in Euro 2000 and 2004, plus he does great "one-touch" passes, which is useful considering our midfield's ofensive tendencies, with long-distance shots and charges into the box and all. also in Euro 2004 only two goals were scored by forwards.

after so many blunders from Pauleta without him being put on the bench, i doubt it'll happen this WC.

also a note for Postiga - he's a decent striker by PORTUGUESE LEAGUE STANDARDS - in world cup standards, he's pretty much useless. his goal against England in 2004 was vital, but other than that....
