Oooh cool Marcuse is an anarchist philosopher, isn't he?

Never read him myself.

I finished reading Max Brooks's "World War Z" last night. It's a pretty cool book, very convincing in parts.

Very good book! Really enjoyed it when I read it a couple of years back. It's very ambitious but Brooks pulls it off surprisingly well.

Heh, it's all about someone who accidentally throws a cigarette but on to someone's head, and the trouble it causes. A title I could see getting funny looks from Americans, haha.

Currently reading Daggerspell by Katharine Kerr. Only 100 pages in so far, but it's good. I'm sure it will pick up more later on. This is the first book I've read in ages.

Marcuse is a neo-marxist/critical theorist. He draws from psychology a lot and basically argues that the 60s U.S. govt. is a totalitarian state.

I'm so proud of you. Marcuse's ultimate conclusion is anarchism due to the problems which arise from his Marxist views.

Gene Wolfe- Return to the Whorl (Book of the Short Sun, Book 3)

This trilogy is amazing. Almost as good so far as the Book of the New Sun. Goddamn Gene Wolfe, why are you such a good writer, and why can you do unreliable narrators so well?

Kurt Vonnegut - A Man With No Country.

Vonnegut is one of the few with the ability to make me drop everything to read what he has written. The book is just his memoirs and should be rather short so I'll probably read it twice and then pick the Marcuse back up.

We've probably talked about this before but that book is awesome. It's one of the few books that make me feel like I'm missing something or that I don't understand the exact message. The cat, Behemoth, is my favorite character.

But their is a political message and layers to every chapter and I may just be over thinking it.

I've heard it's amazing and ridiculously layered, so I'm really looking forward to starting it tommorow. My edition also has some endnotes, so hopefully if I really don't understand something they'll clear it up.
