I've been sick as a mule, but managed to rent some movies. I've recently seen-

Superman Returns
Snakes on a Plane
Little Miss Sunshine

I agree with you on all 3, although I saw Superman Returns on the IMAX so at first I was mostly just like "whoa... big screen, pretty colours". Then I had it on in the background and realized how retardedly dull it was, it's weird because people I've asked at work have said they liked it...

Just saw Blood Diamond. Wow. I'm considering whether this is last years best film right now.
10 out of 10 :dio:

Just saw "Dead Man" last night. Holy shit this movie is awesome. I actually think it is one of Johnny Depp's best performances. I loved it 9.5/10. Brilliant

Yeah, another killer movie. It's a shame no awards were won for this (The Academy doesn't know what they're talking about), but I have to agree with you... best film of 2006.

but where the fuck were the jokes? i only lol'ed at that final dance part and the gas station scene (with the student and that other proust scholar).

was it Carell constantly saying he was the "foremost proust scholar"? the father's attitude and his constant references to his "program"?

I hate to use someone else's view on this film, but I read somewhere that if the Simpsons was a live action movie, then this film would be it. The whole indie feel to the movie makes it seem very dry, but after recently watching such 'classics' like Beerfest and Just Friends, it's nice to watch a comedy that doesn't rely on fart jokes or extreme humour.

I guess an understated style rather than a full on fart-fest makes it a charming movie as well as a satirical romp.

Finally got my Masters of Horror boxed set the other day, and just watched Dario Argento's Jenifer.

Excellent! This series is so cool... At first the idea of TV movies put me off, and I thought it would all be some middle of the road made for kids crap, but of the three I've seen so far (Cigarette Burns, Dreams in the Witch House and Jenifer) the last two have both been pretty uncompromising, impressively nasty :)

Pretty obvious homages to both the Omen and Frankenstein in Jenifer, but it has a character all of its own, some of it is really horrible to watch but you can't turn away... Saw some pretty shocking outtakes as well- including this boy having his (oveersized rubber) penis being eaten by a horribly disfigured cannibal woman :D

Yep, I have all five series and the feature length. I'm a sucker for those fart jokes!

Yeah, I'm still working through what they're showing on Bravo evey monday and it's a ingenius idea this show. However, there is a lot of hit and miss with it - I hated the Meatloaf 'fur' one, but the virus that drives men to kill woman is sheer class!

:omfg: The Chuck shouldn't be underestimated! Shame about AVP. It coulda been a contender... Like Snakes on a plane - it's satisfying, but unlikely to be memorable and a regular visitor to your DVD player.

The Shower - great movie, i was expecting to see a comedy but instead it was a well executed light drama with hints of comedy.

Yeah Pirates II was a lackluster compared to the first, but he still rocks.

i've already seen AVP... i like bad movies, and there's violence in it :D - i don't like movies that are bad in a very lame way on purpose, though.. haven't seen Snakes on a Plana, but i'll buy it once the price get lowered :P
