Yes I agree about the US. I would like to see him ease off the "Bush=Hitler" rhetoric, because it just gives more moderate people an enormous stick to beat him with (not forgetting the fact that Chavez hangs out with the President of Iran, who is much worse)

Anyway, that's the nature of socialism. You help the poor at the expense of the middle class and just hope that they can look after themselves. And it does seem to be the case that his support is divided closely along class lines- Poor= generally for, and Middle Class= generally against.

On the surface at least that makes him sound like a good socialist...

And all the "Jesus put me here" bullshit makes me dislike him. Darn Catholics! And he's friends with the Iranians, as you said. although wasn't there some kerfuffle about him making nukes with them?

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hmm, I think more capitalist governments tend to demonise him as well, though. The White House calls him a terrorist, for example! I'm pretty sure that's one thing he isn't.

So, in truth it's hard to say... an enigma, if you will.

I suppose it comes down to straightforwards Commie vs Cappy. You can't deny the social good he's done, improving rights for poor brown people is unpopular in some circles.

Still, I really can't forgive him for the Iranian connection. Even Putin's treading carefully there...

Indeed, but then I guess every leader in the world has some undesirable connections and friendships, so it doesn't make him much worse than most others.

I find them to get old rather quickly, although that White Ninja one's awesome!

Aaagh, I wasn't expecting such a challenge... I can't do ten without research :P

Let me think... Bush has the Saudi Royal family. They deserve almost as many boos as Ahmedinejad. Blair was getting pretty friendly with the Chinese President, who sucks enormously. Off the top of my head I can't think of many for mainland European leaders, but I'm sure they have some contacts that lead dodgy regimes, if purely for business reasons. Of course, Thatcher had Pinochet, and Churchill was allied with Stalin, so Chavez having the occasional visit to Iran doesn't seem all that bad. It's not like he does much to help him out other than criticise the US's possible plans to attack them. And I'm sure many people would improve of him for saying that.

That's four, two from the past. Well done, there!

Agreed with Blair and Bush, and their examples, but I'd hardly describe myself as a supporter of either. And Iran deserves invasion a helluba lot more than Iraq did.

Well, the Iranian government doesn't systematically murder massive swathes of it's own subjects as Saddam did, and I think the talk of attacking Israel is just idle propaganda. But yes, both to suck. However, the simple fact is that if we think the Iraq invasion has caused unrest, we can't even imagine what an attack on Iran would do. Don't forget that Ahmadinejad is supported by a much greater part of his population than Saddam was (I think)

Anyway, I don't want to turn the post count +1 thread into yet another Middle East discussion :P

So... how about that local sports tesm?

Seems like a lot of trouble... No don't worry. I feel strangely better now that my oafishness has been exposed for the whole world to see.

I have been venturing the realms of dooooom quite a bit lately. Ever since Dooooommaster Dee first introduced me to the bizarre reverend... Too bad he is not among us anymore.
