No cruel dissection of England's performance? Azrael, I'm ashamed of you.

Yes, worrying times for England when Peter Crouch looks more likely to score than Michael Owen. Without Rooney this World Cup could potentially be a bit of a wash out.

well, he did score a good goal... and hungary is better than kuwait :P (pauleta reference)
plus, if he always does the robot after he scores than i want to see him score more often

NEWS:
SHEVCHENKO SIGNS WITH CHELSEA!!!!
Quote:
Chelsea have signed Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko from AC Milan on a four-year deal for a club record fee, the English Premiership champions announced.

holy shit:
Petr Cech, Ricardo Carvalho, Gallas, John Terry, Makelele, Frank Lampard, Robben, Michael Ballack, Drogba, Crespo and Shevchenko!

they've also signed Salomon Kalou, voted the best young talent in The Netherlands in the 2004/05 season.

and, of course, there's everyone's favourite asshole, HOOSAY MOURINYO!

-----

Bayern Munich sign Lukas Podolski!

the sum wasn't revealed but the media says between 12 and 14 million euros, in my opinion a sweet deal considering his potential (he'll be 21 this year).

Bayern is thinking of buying Daniel Van Buyten, Belgian, and defender for Hamburg. Pretty good defender too, tough to pass him.

Well, Sweden got owned by Chile last night. I find it quite funny, the expectations for Sweden in this World Cup is higher than ever, yet we can't even beat teams such as Chile, Ireland and Jordania :?

True, but Sweden is going to face Paraguay in the WC and Paraguay is at least as good as Chile.

By the way, a 7-year-old swedish kid has made a song about Zlatan Ibrahimovic and it's getting played on the fucking radio. Popular music reaches a new low :x

EDIT: Bloody fucking Hell! England - Jamaica 4-0 after 30 minutes :?

that asshole Pauleta just lashed back at his critics, who say he only scores against shitty teams.

"oh i scored against brazil and the netherlands"

let's see... today portuguese sports paper Record published a list of his goals.
greece - 1 goal (friendly, of course)
brazi - 1 goal (friendly)
england - 1 goal (friendly)
sweden - 1 goal (friendly)
the netherlands - 1 goal (qualifier)

so 5 goals against good teams, ONLY ONE OF THEM in an official match. 5 goals out of 46, OH THAT'S REALLY IMPRESSIVE. PLEASE TEACH ME YOUR JEDI FOOTBALL SKILLS.

and the fucking media just keeps sucking his dick, saying that "he's got 46 goals and that's what counts" and shit. fuck them.

/pauleta rant (the last one, at least until he fucks up in the world cup, i promise!)
------------

also am i the only one annoyed by this fake patriotism? patriotism is in itself a questionably attitude in this day and age (though this is a topic for another thread), but fake patriotism is decidedly shit.
FACT: portuguese people hate their country, and only criticize it - yet when it's football time everyone's proud and "united for portugal" and shit. no one gives a damn about the flag and what it represents, no one knows the national anthem, but with football everyone knows it (or at least the final verse).

in euro 2004 Scolari asked people to hang a flag on their windows out of support. people did just that, but after it was over they just kept it outside, to be destroyed by the weather. it makes me sick. taxi drivers with flags on their antennas, totally blackened by smoke and ripped appart by the weather. bah.

then all these companies are suddenly sponsoring the team, trying to tie a brand in with the people's support of their national team. bah. GALP (portuguese gas company) wants to do a... you know.. people with their hands together thingy, all the way from portugal to germany. pathetic. whoever signs up with that shit should be dragged out on the streets and be raped by 10 large black men fresh out of prison.

Its the same in England, everyone forgets how shit they think the country is for a few weeks. But here we take the flags down pretty quick, otherwise people will think your a racist BNP supporter.

And why are germany second/third in the odds for winning the world cup? their team is nowhere near good enough to win and home advantage will not make up for their teams weakness.

WHAT THE FUCK?!

THAT MOTHER FUCKER SCOLARI just put Costinha and Maniche, 2 players who barely played this season, as starters for today's game against Luxembourg! on the bench we've got Tiago and Petit, both of which were vital to their respective clubs this season.

seriously, the guy's insulting them by putting them on the bench after the season they did and the season costinha and maniche did.

i've had it up to here (*puts finger close to forehead*) with scolari's bullshit...

This is the one time an Everton fan is happy to see Rooney not injured.
