very good match from Portugal. as i said - take it to them, push hard, and don't let them build-up, and you stand a decent chance of winning. chances come few and far between, though, so you have to take them.. we didn't. and defending like this is physically demanding and some of our players were having a hard time...

Portugal shouldn't have put the defenders and whatnot shooting first. that's thinking about sudden death, when we're not even sure we can make it to the fifth shot (and we didn't)!

i have to admit that the national team completely surprised me, after such a disastrous qualification run and their shitty displays in the preparation friendlies.

Portugal will be a force to reckon with in Brazil 2014. With a real striker or two, you could even be world champions.
Portugal indeed played well and I concur on what you said, but Spain missed a lot of passes and technical moves last night (15+), which is quite unusual. The team isn't the same without Puyol and Villa. Xavi is out of shape, Piqué gets bullied by just about anyone. Plus, we haven't seen Negredo till his substitution by Fabregas, who - this has been discussed many times already - isn't a goal-scorer.
Then the OT was almost completely dominated by Spain, being itself again with Iniesta back in the middle of play. Spain deserved the win overall, but it was tough, and the Portuguese showed themselves they can be more than a simple pain in the ass.

Anyway, Spain in final. Again. Chapeau!

It was an odd game, both tense and dull. Both teams like falling over too easily, but Portugal were getting ridiculous at times... Referee made a few howlers, too, and Ronaldo needs to visit an opticians, I think...

I hope Germany win tonight, a Spain/German final will be a nice finish. Calling it for Germany if Spain play like they did during the Portugal game, and for Spain if they play like they did in extra time...

Worst game I've seen in a while. I hope Spain get pulled apart by the elegance of the Italian game or the ruthless efficiency of the Germans. Playing 10 midfielders? Fuck off.

Come on, France vs. Spain was thrice as dull. Spain isn't spectacular though, granted. I actually think the winner of tonight's semi will be the top dog.
