Nothing happens when you start up multiplayer, right? Black screen?

CoD2 is, in terms of singleplayer, the least captivating of the series. Try CoD4 next, mate. The singleplayer is ubershort but wonderfully presented and very tense, and the multiplayer is quite simply the best in its genre so far.

Dammit. Oh well, maybe I'll buy myself a copy of 4 when I have some cash on the side.

Black screen, then I got one of those 'CoD2 has stopped working' error messages. Yeah, CoD4 next.

I fired up MOHAA singleplayer again and it's still a thoroughly enjoyable game. It's got calm moments, detailed infiltrations and espionage missions, something I've found the CoD series to lack.

I should find a way to play MOHAA again. Great game, my first online gaming experience at a friend's place. Rich fuckers had 5 computers and various copies of the game, we'd hook up with his dad on a LAN server and play for hours. Great fun.

Yeah, it was the first game I played decently in multiplayer. I got to a point where I was basically non-scoping with sniper rifles very succesfully or even using the regular kar98k and playing purely on reflex single-shot kills. Played a couple of clan wars. Ultimately I moved on to CoD1, then 4.

I used to try and non-scope with snipers by taping a little crosshair onto my screen indicating where the scope crosshair was, then just walking around unscoped using my tape. Never really got the hang of it, just reverted to submachineguns or bazookas, for the hell of it. Fun blowing up every single window because someone might be in there :P

Bazookas and shotguns were disabled on most of the servers I played at, due to being overpowered and a little gay. I played on realism servers as well, which is a bit like Hardcore mode in CoD4, one shot from a rifle or mg and you're dead.

Didn't try hardcore version, and now I threw the game out because the multiplayer wasn't working. Dammit, I'll have to buy myself a copy.

I'm going to start playing Splinter Cell probably on Wednesday-ish, now that I'm finished with MGS2 (my Gamefly rental of MGS3 came in the mail yesterday, btw, but I haven't played it yet). Right now, I think I want to finish these two games:

The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Gamecube/Wii)
Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne (PC)

Imo it's not. Most of the time you wander around the maps driving. Weapons wear down too quickly making them jam every so often forcing you to reload (enemies don't have this problem). And let us not forget the annoying checkpoints which respawn the second you leave them after killing everyone there. Even more annoying when 2 minutes later you have to go through the same checkpoint. Side missions are repetitive and boring. Story is weak, AI average, most of the weapons are fun though. If you like exploring large open areas with little to do and the things I mentioned don't bother you then I'm sure you'll like the game.

So it's like a crap version of Crysis crossed with S.T.A.L.K.E.R., basically? Trying to pick out my next FPS, since can't be bothered paying £20 for CoD4. Any other suggestions, anyone?

Clive Barker's Undying? Erk, 2001? Bit older than what I'd like, really, is it that good?
