dunno, still looks like he could have landed his foot elsewhere...

what did he tell the press? how did the broken leg guy speak of Witsel after this?

He was suspended for about nine matches in our comp IIRC, next to the instead red card in that match obviously. Must've been watching Balotelli the night before or something. He profusely apologised to everyone about it and went to visit Wasilewski in hospital, saying it was unintentional, but I don't think so (and neither does anyone here).

Wasilewski still playing at Anderlecht (CL this year in a manageable group, yay) + playing for Poland recently, after taking that amount of damage? Doesn't seem very crystalline to me

Marseille supporters welcome Joey Barton:

In other news, possible reasons for Cristiano Ronaldo's "sad":

Image

-Marcelo accidentally called him "Leo."
-Xabi Alonso said that "anyone who doesn't watch Breaking Bad is an idiot" and Cristiano does not watch Breaking Bad.
-Seeing Iker Casillas cry so many times has made him depressed.
-He's worried that if Kaka leaves, they won't be able to hang out on Real Madrid Resort Island together.
-He just found out that Kaka doesn't really exist and he is the only one who can see him.
-Luka Modric's physical appearance is upsetting to him.
-He got really freaked out by Michael Essien calling Jose Mourinho "daddy."
-Karim Benzema asked if his girlfriend, Irina Shayk, will leave him for Andres Iniesta now.
-Jose Callejon said that Jose Callejon has the best hair on the team and didn't realize Cristiano was standing right behind him the whole time.
-Ricardo Carvalho being tossed aside like a dead gold fish that is still very much alive.
-The rest of the team keeps asking him why he's nice to Fabio Coentrao and they all roll their eyes when he says they're friends.
-Sergio Ramos said something Sergio Ramosy.
-Sergio Ramos offered to kick his favorite ball to him from across the training pitch, but ended up kicking it into the ocean instead.
-Sergio Ramos ate the sandwich his mom packed him for lunch 16 days in a row.
-Sergio Ramos accidentally erased all the songs on his iPod.
-Sergio Ramos accidentally adopted his son and renamed him "Herman Jr."
-Sergio Ramos.

and thanks for the information Karma. but fact he never did anything like this, and generally played very clean football here in Portugal. maybe it really was accidental.

Would be fun if they just wrote "Dork" and "Bastard" with Russian letters.

I rather think he got his act together and has matured since (and by) the incident.

Add Vertonghen and Kevin De Bruyn to that list. Excellent individual quality, shite national team. Okay, so we beat Holland a few weeks ago - but who didn't?

lol poor holland. so much talent and yet so few results.

so i was driving to the shop today and who was crossing the street but SHÉU HAN, the Chinese-Mozambican 70's and 80's Benfica legend, aka Pézinhos de Lã ("wool feet")? i obviously shouted "SHÉU!" out of the window and then when he looked at me gave him a thumbs up and shouted "BENFICA!". fucking awesome way to start the day.

So it would seem Man City offered €200M to Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo (salary: €20M/year). That would be the reason he's upset.

Can't blame him, these are very upsetting figures...

And Real Madrid are playing Man City tonight in the CL group stages. Wonder if Ronaldo is going to score an own goal and then demand 20M from Mancini?

Well he scored the winner at the last minute, respect. Now he's got his 50% pay raise, he's happy again.

PSG destroyed Kyiv yesterday, I guess they're better than what I expected. Looking forward to the next fixture against Porto. Montpellier lost 2-1 against Arsenal, but were unfortunately not ridic at all. I would have loved to see them losing 14-0 or something.
Lille vs. BATE tonight.

And Malaga beats Zenit 3-0. Malaga is a dead serious foe...

Fucking mental match last night. Shame City couldn't hold onto the lead, twice, but credit to Madrid for battling till the final whistle. Saying that, Mancini didn't even deserve that much for his negative annoying as hell tactics. "Hey guys, let's play three central defensive-minded midfielders!"

couldn't see any match, but from the summary Real x City looked great. glad Real won.

why are you rooting against Montpellier, Bruce? most french teams are crap but Montpellier have more soul to them than fucking PSG. then again the latter are your club so maybe i see where you're coming from.

Málaga have SAVIOLA!

Celtic x Benfica tonight. last two times we crossed paths in the group stage, we won 1-0 and 3-0 at home and lost 1-0 and 3-0 away
definitely looking forward to hosting their awesome supporters in the second leg. Fridge, you should take the opportunity to come down here!

Well, to be fair it was Real Madrid they were up against, and that almost worked. But I'm glad Madrid won in the end.

Tonight: Chelsea - Juve and Valencia - Bayern, among others. I'm especially interested in the former, Juventini seem badass enough, I hope they destroy Chelsea. I think their current record is 46 games without losing... maybe home games? Something like that. You guys tell me, I don't like that club (Juventus) much.
