Anderlecht tied against AC Milan, in Milan, last night. Goddamn, those Italians are bad now. The other two teams in their pool are Zenit St Petersburg (win) and Malaga (fail), so we might actually stand a chance of not being kicked out immediately.

i know you're Aberdeen through and through, but you seem to hold Celtic as a second team or something and since they're the only CL representatives right now i thought

Milan, argh. my favourite italian team (next to Fiorentina), what a shame to see them like this.

why are you rooting against Montpellier, Bruce? most french teams are crap but Montpellier have more soul to them than fucking PSG. then again the latter are your club so maybe i see where you're coming from.

They're French title holders (it was a huge fluke, they played very well but also got insanely lucky), PSG ended up close second last year. Half the players are arrogant cunts, coach is a total paranoid, chairman is a foul-mouthed neanderthal (but he's funny, granted) and that's a club from the south of the country. I don't really hate them, it's just they piss me off. I hope they won't be too much of a disgrace because of the UEFA points, but that's it.

But I, in the other hand, like Lille. They play tonight.

Must be hard for Milanistas to struggle against Anderlecht while two former players score for PSG.

Ibra and Thiago Silva didn't leave because they weren't important for the club (they were indisputably the two most important players!), they left because the club was (is) fucking broke.

and Pasttore played for Palermo.

Oh my I'm having a blast right now. Lille is losing 0-2 to BATE Borisov, at home. Remember the French press saying Lille and Montpellier had good chances to qualify, especially Lille, a few pages earlier in this very thread?

 HAHAHAHAHAAHAAAAAAAAA!!!

Oh boy, I despise them SO much... (the French journalists, not Lille)

So Lille finally lost 1-3 against a shit club in which Hleb is the only good player. I'm a happy man.

Europa League tonight, the Cup-No-One-Cares-About. Marseille, Lyon and Bordeaux are the French participants. Marseille's coach already said he wouldn't align the 1st team, Bordeaux never truly play the Europa League and always favor the Ligue 1, and Lyon... well we'll see about Lyon.

Ha, the lulz.

lol @ french football

Benfica's match was boring, but it was the first without Witsel, Javi Garcia AND Luisão, plus it was at Celtic Park, so it's understandable that the manager took a rather conservative approach.

on an unrelated note

applicable to other situations i guess

Benfica is hosting Barcelona on tuesday. it's going to be fucking hard. we sold Witsel and Javi Garcia late into the pre-season (in fact, the actual season had already started) and there are no real substitutes, and our vital centre-back/captain Luisão is suspended. the left-back is a 20 year-old kid who last season was playing as a forward at Paços de Ferreira. he's talented but he's going to be facing MESSI on his side! so between Messi and the best midfield in the world, it'll be an honour to host Barça, but it'll also be the toughest 90 minutes this team has ever faced. i shudder to think of our trip to Camp Nou later on.

a Sporting fan friend of mine (we call them "lagartos", portuguese for lizards) told me to stock up on vaseline for tuesday. i replied that HE won't be needing any because HIS club is playing fucking lokomotiv plovdiv or some shit like that because they are in the fucking europa league. i am not taking any lip from fucking SPORTING fans.

also, some considerations on the sporting goods industry. they are a bunch of assholes. i went to buy some football shoes the other day and i noticed that if you want a pair that isn't shocking pink and/or that doesn't glow in the dark, like just a regular black or white pair, you gotta spend upwards of €80. fuck them. i bought a ridiculous pair of pink Adidas and will proceed to write something manly on them with a black marker. i'm thinking "SLAYER RULES" on one side, what should i write on the other?

If you can't beat Celtic, surely you'll have a torrid time against Barca.

Celtic at home are a completely different story from Celtic away, and their European record reflects that very well. plus, we played our first ever match without three key players - Luisão in defence and Javi García and Witsel in midfield. as the team adapts, it will improve.

but yeah it'll very hard and sad as i am to say it a draw would be good enough on tuesday.

EDIT:

also just noticed i mentioned no Witsel/Javi/Luisão for the third time in a single page.

2-0 loss at home to Barça. considering our tattered squad and Barça's wealth of talent, while it sucks that we lost at home, it's not an embarrassing result at all.

cool moment:

Celtic played like actual, relevant European contenders yesterday. Maybe not full-on CL contenders, but definitely a team to give the Europa League a run for its money.
