There is an issue at hand and whether he had an assault rifle or a pistol, kids were still going to die. If anything comes out of this, it's the need to deal with mental illness in a much more comprehensive way that isn't reliant on profits, but treating the people. Good grief, is there really anything different between what I said and your comments about how messed up the country is? I'm not really singling out any specific individuals but more to what you said about how there are some real problems with how the US is run which led to this tragedy. I apologize if the way I said it offended you and I completely get why you or anyone would think what I said was stupid or unintelligible but it was honestly my gut reaction to this news.

The purpose of the thread is to grant an open forum as to why and how these things are occuuring at an ever alarming and frequent rate.

One thing that bothers me with the coverage of the Connecticut tragedy is the cameras in every grieving person's face. I just wish they were granted a bit more privacy at such a vulnerable time.

I think there may be a societal issue at stake, either way, the "why" is too complicated to immediately turn into a shouting match for both sides on guns.
