some awesome finishers... most of which aren't from wwe wrestlers, it seems. they ought to use their money to sign some of these guys, or at least quit it with the move restrictions.

Truthfully, I lost interest in wrestling around 2000 when the WWE (then WWF) moved to TNN (now Spike-TV) and Austin returned from his injury. Particularly, making Rikishi into a heal was one of the dumbest ideas the WWE ever had.

seriously though, RAW sucks ass. the only good wrestlers there are HBK, Triple H, Cena and RVD, and most of the show is just talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk talk TALK! stupid shit like the shawn michaels piss test, the shawn michaels retirement contract signing and the kiss my ass club are just fucking rediculous. literally half the show is talk. worthless.

Now you know why I've lost interest in wrestling. The whole "Kiss My Ass club" in particular was stupid.

Actually, is there a website where I can download old WWE/WWF matches? Specifically, Undertaker vs. Mankind - Hell in a Cell 1998 and Kane vs. Undertaker - Inferno Match 1998.

I have been a fan of wrestilng on and off. I recently started watching again.

Brainless entertainment? Sure, but I like it that way sometimes.

Fake? Of course but many of those guys past and present have legitamate backgrounds(Ex- millitary, colligate wrestlers, and New Jack stabbed a guy once) I would not call the risk fake though. All one really has to do is read a copy of Have a Nice Day By Mick Foley to know that.

I think I like Smackdown better because of the better talent. Plus the pirate guy slays!

I've been a fan of WWF/WWE since i was a kid. Watching Hogan, Andre The Giant, Randy Savage, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, and all the others.
Then i started watching WCW, which seemed to step up the action a bit more. More cool characters, awesome finishing moves. It was a shame to see WCW close its doors.

Lately i am on again, off again with the WWE. Its like watching a god damn soap opera, twist after twist.

The real popular characters have almost all gone. Hogan, Goldberg, The Rock, Steve Austin, etc. All thats left from the "back in the day" is the Undertaker.

HHH, Kurt Angle and the Undertaker are probably my favourite wrestlers. Watched it just recently, has anyone seen The Great Khali? The guy is a friggin freak of nature

And does anyone know how exactly Eddie Gurrero died? Wasnt it suspicious or unknown at one stage?

i'd say Eddie took steroids... but even if he didn't, he had an alcohol problem before.

The Great Khali KILLED A GUY IN COMBAT! it happened during his days in Japan.. check his wikipedia entry.

i saw it today, and it was awful to see the crowd's "USA! USA! USA!" reaction. bunch of inbred redneck pieces of shit. this is why the Mohammed Hassan character was pulled and if the crowd keeps going this way the same will have to happen with Khali (who btw has the worst song ever).

those redneck fuckers
a) stereotype (all muslims are evil, it seems)
b) confuse race with religion
c) confuse races: INDIA ISN'T AN ARAB COUNTRY! FFS!

btw, i love his chin, it's beyind sexy. that + his voice = killer combo

and Kurt Angle fucking rules!

WHAT?!?! A wrestling discussion and I, the wrestle-a-holic is not in it yet? Blasphemy!

WWE I follow constantly, mostly because it's the only wrestling show Finnish national television has on. I like it, Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit are Gods. Pumped up Gods! The Undertakers entrance makes me wargasm every time. The wrestling there can get too dumbed down because of the concentration on the feuds, the promos, characters and such. This is really a double-edged sword. If a feud is hot and goes somewhere like the HHH - HBK feud a few years back, Im all for promos and backstage brawls and such. Such is not the case often, however, because few feuds have as much history and backgrounds from Degeneration X and the like as Hunter and Shawn had. So id like more wrestling, but that's "sports entertainment" for ya.

Then TNA, which I love too. The X-division is awesome, though their matches sometimes tend to go into a over-the-top spotfest a bit too fast. Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Abyss, Alex Shelley, Petey Williams, Rhyno...damn, theyve got a huge basis of super workers. Their pay-per-views are usually very good, especially compared to WWEs. Unfortunately lately theyve been booking old WCW talent in hopes of grabing ratings, now that Spike TV is slotting them harder and harder. This tends to bury the long-term workers. But Samoa Joe is there, that's all one needs in the end.

Ring Of Honor was mentioned. Awesome matches, for pure wrestling from the States Id say it's number one. I havent seen one bad match from ROH and I doubt that happens very often. Its futile to even list the favourites of mine, there are so many. CZW is also a nice indy federation, whenever they just hold back the hardcore at least a bit and just wrestle. The occasional Painthriller on thumbtacks are OK, but too much is too much.

But for the most awesome wrestling in the world Id go for Japan. Puroresu is just so friggin brilliant. Especially Pro Wrestling NOAH with Kenta Kobashi, Mitsuharu Misawa, KENTA, Jun Akiyama, Kensuke Sasaki and many more. The Japanese style is überstiff and everything from the chops seems and hears like it stings like hell. From the way the guys are dropped on their necks with something like Kobashis Burning Hammer-finisher you would think they are made of rubber. The bumps are insane! And of course I must praise New Japans legend, Jushin Thunder Lyger! Puroresu all the way...and THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE.....cause Triple A...SAID SO!

*WHAT?*

Mohammed Hassan was pulled because of the "terrorist" angle they ran with the Undertaker. remember the guys in black ski masks running out from the back and beating down Taker? That particular incident aired the same day as the terroist attacks in London. Unsurprisingly, they got a LOT of shit for that. UPN(the network that runs SmackDown! here in the states) said eitheir pull the character or they were going to pull SD from their network. A really stupid move on Vince's part to run a storyline like that in the first place.

You need to see more of his matches then. He is one of the best workers out there right now. Extremely agile for a guy that size as well. Download some of his Ring of Honor matches, that features some of his best work.

That was the point. He was Iron Shiek version 2.0. If they had left him on RAW, he would still be there. The USA Network lets them get away with murder. Moving him to SD! was a dumb idea, as UPN is a broadcast network(ie not Cable), so they have tighter restrictions on what content they can have. Plus why would you have him bring out a terrorist goon squad in the first place? That's just asking for trouble.

but that's just it! why push the arab/muslim angle so much, the negative reaction goes beyond the expected heel heat? the idiots in the crowd only get even worse ideas of the arab/muslim population.

I hate to say it, but your average wrestling fan is probably a potbellied Republican redneck who thinks that way anyway. I think this 'pretend fighting' shit is as bad as LARPing, but I'm trying to avoid flamewars, so I left you fools alone for the most part. It's just that you can't expect rationality from people who enjoy watching oiled-up steroidheads pretend to put someone through a table. For fuck's sake!

I agree for the most part. My favorite thing about seeing wrestling live is mocking all of the idiots who think it's real. I have a very big sense of humour about the whole thing, and in no way take it seriously.

You can't pretend to put someone through a table though. There is a risk involved with it, and I've seen a guy get paralyzed in the ring from a botched Powerbomb. It's as dangerous as being a stuntman. And stuntmen get better pay.
