so that means the common american is really stupid?

America as a whole values the "common man." That's why he speaks with that ridiculous affected Texas accent, despite being from Conneticut. We eschew anything that looks like "elitism," but in recent years, this has meant embracing mindless Christianity and Blue Collar TV. I weep for my native land.

Christianity doesn't have to be mindless.

No. But the brand that's popular right now is.

"born again"?

Nope, the kind that thinks Creationism should be taught in science class, teaching teenagers about condoms will lead to premarital sex, and Bush was put in place by the new version of the divine right of kings.

Why shouldn't Creationism be taught in schools? Oh, and if you give kids condoms they will use them and then, eventually, not use them...

1. Not, if you have teachers that know what they are talking about. Teachers that can show the flaws in evolutionary theory.

2. When condoms are given out in school the teen sexual activity and pregnancy rates go up. It's a fact. Why not just tell kids that the best thing is not to have sex until you are at least an adult and are ready for the responsibility it brings.

there are no flaws in darwins theory. we just did this in science class this year. the public shcool teacher in a highly catholic community told us that creationism is bollocks and that evolution is teh awesome.

I got taught creationism at school... I don't see why thats such a bad thing as long as the teacher makes it perfectly clear that we don't know which is correct.

People who are against evolution being taught in schools are batshit insane though.

actually, we should tell kids that they shouldn't really have sex until they're old enough to be responsible, but just in case, teach them a whle lot about AIDS to scare the piss out of them. maybe show some pictures of dying african women to get the point around

Oh, well in that case I better shut up and go home...

First and foremost. Evolution has no explanation for the human mind. Where do things such as morality come from? If evolution was true, then our whole lives would be surival based. This is clearly not the case.

The first time I had sex I was drunk and some girl was like "I like stroking you" and then pulled me onto her bed. We didn't use a condom cuz we're pro.

Maybe morality came in when we started thinking for the good of the society rather than the individual, 'cause on our own humans would have been fuxored up the ass by lions & tigers & bears.

Ok, that's fine by me. No reason to hand out condoms though.

oh yes it is. animals are dying out while humans have advanced technology and are multiplying like mad. We've adapted to our environment, we've reached a peak in evolution. We'll probably end up wiping out each other in a nuclear war and leaving the place to a radiation loving new human species. but if creationism i true, then why do our minds also hold all this capability for anger and violence?

Ignoring the first comment, if you believe in evolution then you don't believe in love. You just believe that your chemicals and neurons go all funky at some point in your life and you decide to mate with somebody.

and the chemicals and neurons stimulate a strong attraction that we know as 'love'.

Love = making babies = continuing the species.

or

Love = addiction to the chemicals that the person releases in your brain.

So, you are saying there really is no such thing as love? Only the need to procreate?
