Let's say I'm too old to care about respect in the metal world. 8 years of listening to metal and metal only, I gotta widen the horizon already.
I'll find my place again, but in the meantime stuff like a7x, AFI, Boy Sets Fire keep me entertained.

AFI's punk moments are really nice, you know.

Behind Crimson Eyes. Similar to the stuff you mentioned. Or the Bled for half-decent metalcore.

And Audrey Horne

Don't like The Clash. Misfits is godly though.

I'll check em out.

Look it's not like I've quit anything, right now I'm masturbating listening to Koldbrann - Moribund. Heard it? It's like the A Blaze in the Northern sky of our modern day.

Yeah I did. I hated it, called him a fag and threw stuff at the tv. But when I heard a song from their earlier albums it kind of backfired on me.

I understand the need to diversify, but I think there are better places for it.

Well I usually listen to Post-rock, ambient, classical and even a little jazz to diversify. These others are like appetizers. Plus I worship old hardcore punk and these bands have some qualities of it.

I don't go around mentioning my post-rockz and stuff, I mention afi especially because I know people will flip out.

who's your fave classical composer? Mine's Beethoven, he was the first metal musician and he wrote the first metal riff. Everyone wants soft romantic music, and he says "Composers do not cry! Composers are made of fire!" and he writes the fucking 5th symphony. seriously, beethoven rooocks!!!

Beethoven rvles. Vivaldi is awesome, so's Strauss.

It's a toss up between Beethoven and Orff for me. Beethoven has many awesome stuff but Orff's Carmina Burana still gives me the creeps. Can't choose.

although lots of people find his piano stuff really cheesy, I guess Liszt was good... people claim he was more of a technical player than a creative musician... sort of like Yngwie today...
