Open your eyes, half of Emperors demo/EP/split songs were reworked and put on the albums

Post of the year. :dio:

I like the ep but the demo is an insipid mess.

And INTE is still one of the best metal albums ever. :dio:

And? That doesn't do their demo/EP any credit.

You forgot the most important kick ass track of of IX , curse you all men :dio:

The worst songs on Anthems are better than the whole of IX.

of course Anthems is light years beyond IX but you have to admit how great that song is. Its the best post- anthems song they released.

You know, it's not bad, but I'd say that Empty from Prometheus (the one they did the video for) was better.

Same songs, slightly fuzzy production. Plus the Demo/EP songs are not dominated by the keyboards like on ITNE.

that is a tough call to make.

i liked empty but all of the harmonics started annoying me. but other than that i agree its a better song. the first few times i heard it , I woudl have called it my favorite. Now all I hear when i listen to it is the harmonics and the wierd, almost out of place synth lines . That kinda kills it for me.

What are you going on about? INTE was not "dominated" by keyboards!

I like it precisely because of the strangeness. I give Emperor credit, they made each album truly different. Still rather cynical about this possible new one, though.

Since this has turned into the 'everyone talk about Emperor' thread, what's the word on Emperial Live Ceremony?

Its a problem i have with the Mix. I find the keyboards to be too prominent.

the only thing off it i have heard was the loss and curse of reverence and i found it to be a good live reording. It does get a little muddy but for the most part it sounds alot better than most bm live albums.

I *ahem* borrowed the DVD from a "friend" of mine. It is quite good, I thought, audio production is actually very good, loss and curse of reverance video is a nice bonus, the only problem I've seen is this wierd issue with the video not always synching properly with the audio, particularly when focusing on Trym. In fact, at some points throughout the show, it almost seems as if they lost the footage for that moment in time, and replaced it with a similar clip. Trym will be playing some maniacal fill, and the video shows him just blasting along. Also, there are some wierd time lapse effects and stuff that I don't really like. Each song is introduced by a cut/fade to a black screen with the title of the song. I don't really like that either. When I watch a live DVD, I really would like to feel like I'm AT the show. That's the feeling I got, for example, watching the Strapping Young Lad live DVD, which I feel is the single best live DVD ever made. Overall, I guess I'd give it a 70/100. If it weren't for the wierd video synch problems and the cut/fade to black, I'd bring that up to about an 85.

No. Fuck you and fuck off. The EP is easily the best material Emperor ever put out.

Obviously a fan of the cookiecutter type of BM, then.

Thanks. I'll get it if I see it cheap, just reminded myself that I am yet to watch the live footage from the re-released albums I have.

There really isn't much on those , isn't it just some rehearsal video from back in the wrath of the tyrant days?

Since DeathsGreatestFear has already gotten as warm of a welcome as you can really expect, go create a Emperor thread in the Death/Black/Thrash forum if you wish to prove your favorite album is the fuckingblackest.
