Getting a dog is like a constant reminder that in about 10 years time you'll be very sad.

Or less.
I lost one at 6, another at 9... But you get another dog, it doesn't replace your old pal but it's a new companion, a new history... And it's great every time.

In that case getting a cat is a constant reminder that in about 10 years time you'll be very happy.

I hate cats though....

I like that you can be lazy with cats and that they're self-dependent.
Dogs are more friendly, so I think I prefer dogs to cats.

Good. I like dogs and cats, but rich dog-owners with no kids in this country are the heights of annoying.

They at least have the courtesy not to reproduce.

My mother in-law has two of the ugliest dogs I have ever seen, like mutated chihuaha's (one is a freddy krueger looking thing, and the other is about 30 lbs over weight) and every time I pull up into the drive way I play frogger with them. One day I am going to lose (or win, depending on how you look at it) and I will just have two words for her: natural selection.

Dogs, as ugly and annoying as they may seem are innocent creatures that only look up to us human for love (and food, okay).

Yeah, don't sweat these guys. They are just in it for the food. The fat one actually starts wheezing every now and then. I forgot to put up the gate one night and he came up the stairs at 3am into our room coughing and wheezing. I yelled at him to get out and he walked out.....right into the baby's room, coughing and weezing. I wasn't quick enough, so guess who got to spend the rest of the night playing with Aaron?

Im not anti-dog at all, these have just pushed me to my limit.
