Argentina

Portugal HAS to come top of their group (i'm assuming Argentina will top theirs), otherwise the tournament ends for us right after the group stage.

indeed, they did just scare everyone else shitless. it'll take an iron-clad defense to stop the Argentina offensive machine.

Argentina seriously fucked Serbia in the ass. And Serbia isn't that a bad team at all. Impressive. Now we know who'll come second after Brazil. :D

I've decided to do my best to like Argentina now.

I don't know why I want them to lose so much. Maybe because Maradonna irratates me a lot, or more probably just as a result of footballing history and tradition.

Anyway, I am going to try and force myself to be nice about them. I think I shall do this by putting a lot of money on them to win. that way even if I can't overcome my aversion to them at least I can make money from it should they be victorious.

Its a win win situation, go for it.

Portugal played poor this afternoon, i thought they were going to draw. Again they remind me of england.

nah, Iran didn't stand a chance.

We didn't play too well, but we got the job done. the defense is still a bit shaky in parts, though, we have to get this solved before we come up against teams with a stronger attack. it's all that asshole Jorge Andrade's fault, why did he have to get injured, WHY?!

AND THAT GODDAMN PAULETA!
didn't score AGAIN, missed a couple of good chances AGAIN, and yet Scolari still keeps him there the whole 90 minutes. seriously, what the FUCK is wrong with him?! i ask you!!

Pauleta is like those teachers you hated that never seemed to get sick, and you got the feeling they slept with the principal, because no one fired them.

damn that pauleta, damn him!

Ghana PWNED Czech Republic  Holy shit they impressed me against Italy but this game was even better. I love how they kept attacking even when they had 2-0. By the way, Asamoah Gyan's performance was one of the best individual poerformances I've seen so far in this World Cup. The guy ran like a rabbit on amphetamine throughout the entire game.

Watching the U.S. and Italy game right now. The referee is horrible.

USA - Italy game is over. Tied 1-1, USA had a player down the entire second half. Good display of football on USA's side. Anything could happen next match against Ghana. Either way, an underdog is moving up to the next round. There's actually a chance for Italy not to qualify, but that depends on how Czech Republic plays. Ghana lost both their forwards in this game (thanks to the two yellowcard = suspension for a game rule). I have a question. Does getting a redcard mean suspension for the following game?

Yes, it does. The ref really fucked that game over.

Ouch, so USA has to find two players to replace? Well, same with Ghana, so they're in the same boat. Did anyone from Czech Rep. get ejected today?

Lokvenc got a yellow and won't play the game against Italy. Baros and Koller injured + Lokvenc suspended = seriously screwed czech offense :?

Mastroeni being sent off was the pussiest red card I've ever seen. It was a hard tackle, but not a dirty play. Should've been a yellow at worst.

EDIT - "Americanism" changed, per rio and Rad. :P

If Phill instists on playing pauleta up on his own without another stricker then he won't score. He needs someone else to make runs and take defenders away from him so he has the space to make his own runs. Deco is a good enough passer to pick him out but not when he has two defenders on him like he did all game like against Iran.
