Man that relentlessly cheesy style of cover art does a book no favours at all.

I agree... A great book with a ugly cover art.
But the cover of the same book I have at home is ugly too... less cheesy, but ugly

I'm waiting for my copy of The Dark Tower: The Waste Lands to arrive (devoured Drawing of the Three in a few days). I snuck a read at the first couple of sub-chapters in Waterstone's yesterday. Nice to see it doesn't waste any time getting going - 10 pages in, BANG, 70 foot bear with an antenna growing out of its brain.

Still only read the Gunslinger. I'll get round to them someday...

Disclaimer:The Waste Lands has a crap ending, followed by a crap book before the series gets good again. But it's worth it.

The second one makes a lot more sense, its more like reading a book and less like having a dream, if you know what I mean.

Pete - I've heard the book basically stops 60 pages early, which are sort of grafted on to the front of the next book, can you clarify without spoilers?

It ends on a cliffhanger, and the next book finishes it off-I was chuffed to see a continuation of the Waste Lands, then it goes into a bullshit romance/drama. But still keep reading, they do get good again.

Well, to be fair, it doesn't really have an ending. Which is why you should have Wizard and Glass (which is pretty good, while not advancing the story too much) right next to you as soon as you finish it. But Waste Lands is awesome.. My favourite of the series.

Bump it to the top. It'll be one of the best books you've ever read.
