Finishing Planescape Torment for the 4th time. It's definitely in my top 3 games ever.

I'm kind of sick of my games for xbox (Dead Space, Forza 2, Viva Pinata, SF4.) So I keep going back to these older games.

Next game will be Descent Freespace 2.

Traded up my old 360 for a Slim system, downloading the free digital copy of Alan Wake that came with it at the moment.

How much did that cost you? And are you transferring all your old saves over to the new system?

I bought the 250 Gb Slim system (with two games included) for $300. And yeah, I bought a transfer cable for about $20 to bring all my memory to the new system, the process was simple and took around 5 minutes.

I ask only because I'm interested in doing the exact same thing.

Great game, or greatest game?

Finished Final Fantasy XIII, it was good game but a big letdown for a Final Fantasy title.

The good:
-The battle system is awesome; battles are frantic and most importantly challenging, figuring out what paradigms to use and when to change them is the key of winning battles that otherwise would seem impossible.
-Good lead characther; one of my major gripes with FF12 was Vaan, who was IMO the worst lead character of any FF game, specially since he had no relevance to the plot, SE seemed to address this issue with Lighning, she is central to the plot and a very good lead overall.
-Good graphics; as with any FF, the graphics are top notch, both ingame and cutscenes.
-Good music; while not on the same level as Nobuo Uematsu's compositions the music in general was fairly good, the standard battle theme being one of my favourites.

The bad:
-Way too linear; the game is basicaly going from point A to point B, exploration is almost nonexistant, and the world is pretty much empty, no towns, no NPC's, nothing, its a shame because the world of gran pulse could have been awesome to explore.
-Simplistic RPG design; WTF Square? besides Stregnth, Magic and HP, there are no other stats in the game, this is unforgivable for an RPG, there are very few magic spells too, where is Ultima, Holy, Meteor, etc?, Summons once again are fucking useless and why cant they make a modern FF with armors?
-Boring story; to be fair the story isnt that bad but the storytelling is horrible, some parts doesnt eve make sense, they had some great things going on with the overall mythology of the game, like the Fa'lcie, Cocoon, etc. but it never gets fully exploited and its a fucking shame.
-Annoying characters; Besides Lighting and Fang, the rest of the characters ranges from mediocre (Sazh) to god damn annoying (Vanille), most of this issue relates to the bland story of the game, you cant have interesting characters if nothing of interest is happening to them, except for Vanille, she is just god damn awful, fuck you Square for creating such an idiotic character and fuck you again for forcing me to play with her.

Aw, Sazh is one of my favorite characters. But Vanille is goddamn awful, even by cutesy JRPG standards.

I'm around 15 hours into the game myself, very much enjoying it so far. The battle system rocks. And I like the story so far, a bit overcomplicated but fun to follow.

I got 4-5 hours into the game a few months ago and haven't touched it since. What a boring fucking game. There wasn't anything in it that could convince me to keep playing. That is really fucking terrible.

I'm just dumbfounded by all the reports of limited to no exploration. I figured that since Square basically wrote the book for modern JRPGs, I figured they of all people would know that one of the biggest and most important aspects of a good JRPG is exploration. What the hell went wrong there?

Well imagine if this was FFVII and you spend 70 % of the game in Midgard and then when you finally get out to the world map you found that there was nothing there but monsters, thats how this game is, except that Midgard is way more interesting that Cocoon.

Like i said FXIII is a good game, the battle system is very cool and it actually never got boring, but i just didnt get the FF experience i was expecting.

Anyone playing new vegas or finish it yet???

If so I have a question about which faction to choose...I can't decide so I've been doing 20 hours of sidequests in the meantime.

I'd suggest you work for NCR or House if you're a good character. Caesar's Legion or Wild Card if you're evil.

NCR it is. I get a selfish vibe from House. I heard the endings to Yes Man and House however, are the best.

Alan Wake is pretty so far.

Since my new PC for some reason can't handle both MW and MW2 online, I'm back to playing World at War. Anyone else play it on PC?
