2-0 road trip for the Canucks. things are looking up. it kind of bugs me what better players the Canucks could have gotten for the same price as Sundin if that opportunity was available. y not get Kovalchuk or smth instead of old man swede

You guys still have several million availabe in cap space to add somebody else.

Trust me come playoff time, you will want Sundin over Kovalchuk. Captain Clutch please.

I wasn't trying to be a dick with my Thrashers comment. It's Atlanta is one of those teams the Leafs need to win in helping us with the upcoming draft.

Unbelievable game between Canada and Russia. I went insane when they tied it up.

Oh man me to.

My buddy and I were watching at my place. When they went down by a goal with only a few minutes left, my heart sank. But when they tied it I spilled my beer everywhere.

Also, even though I want the Leafs to lose as much as possible this season, beating the Senaturds is always good. Plus Toskala played good, may bring up his trade value.

Man, the Canada-Russia game was GREAT. My heart was racing in OT and my team wasn't even playing. The Sweden-Slovakia game was pretty close as well, until the floodgates opened in the third.

Looking forward to the finals, though I believe Canada will win it. Sweden hasn't really been challenged with close games this tournament and Canada has had two in a row now. Teams learn and grow so much from games like those, I think Canada will be a powerhouse and the finals will not be a very close game. Still, if Sweden can hang in there Canada might get shaky. They certainly haven't looked as solid as they normally do in net or on defense so who knows.

Gonna stay up and watch the game for sure even though the game likely won't end until 3 AM Swedish time.

I can't wait for the gold medal game, that will be awesome.

Swedens goalie is huge, and Florida got a steal with him. I think with him in net the Panthers will be scary to play against in the future. If only they can build around him...unlike the whole Luongo thing.

Speaking of the Panthers, the Leafs play them on Tuesday and it's Bryan McCabes first game back in Toronto. I am sure the boo-birds will be there loud and clear.

I always thought Nikita Filatov looked like a 15 year old girl, and when they showed him sitting on the ice after Canada won the game, it proved it to me. Nikita Filatov, the first female NHLer to play in the regular season. A big step in the future for the NHL.

Zach Boychuk.

And he has been pretty good. Playing on the second line with John Tavares and Chris Didomenico (leafs prospect!!). I am not sure how many goals he has, but I know he has at least 2. Sorry I can't be more insightful than that, but he is playing well. Good prospect you guys have.

Run over our goalie and get away with it eh?

Well. Congratz and all. Must be sort of a bittersweet victory. Canada played a foul game and should have gotten a few more penalties, especially for all those goalie tackles and the high sticking that they totally let go.
Canada were surely the better team, no doubt about it, but it could have been a much closer match if the referees had opened their eyes.

Sweden had tons of chances on the powerplay, especially in the 2nd.

I had to work while the game was on. I did listen on the radio though when I had the chance. And I did make it home in time to see the medals being handed out. John Tavares is a beast and I think will got at #1 this year in the draft.

The better team won, no question about it. Man I never thought I'd be so bored from a gold medal game. I turned it off after two periods, not because I had given up or because I was tired, I was just bored. Bored and pissed off because team Sweden couldn't generate more than a pair of decent scoring opportunities over two periods.

That's because Canada decided to play some defence. All tournament their defensive game was pretty bad, but they stepped it up a notch, or 3, in the gold medal game. I think with another gold medal for Pat Quinn, he should be back in the NHL sooner rather than later. I think he'd be a good coach for Edmonton or Pittsburgh. Or pretty much any young team that is leaking young talent. Hell I'd like to see what he could do with the current Leaf roster. But not at the expense of ol' Ron Wilson, his arguments with Don Cherry and Howard Berger are quickly becoming classic.

Absolutely, although at one point it should have been 5 vs 3 after the goalie rundown.
Maybe it would not have mattered though, since they just could not poke the puck across the line.

Is there anything more beautiful than scoring six goals on Toronto and kicking some ass? No, there is not.

Though this game was way too ugly, on both sides, though it didn't help that one entire line of Toronto's didn't even try to touch the puck and only went in for fights. Still, neither team was classy tonight. And man, Grabovski must really be a dick for everyone to hate him so much.
