Well, exactly. My point is just that even then you were all like "I can't believe you crazy extremists don't believe in mandatory abortions for teenagers"... just a pattern I noticed is all

I'm sure there was at least a bit of tongue-cheek interaction going on, but whatever. You crazy extremist, memorising every single thing I ever said!

Perhaps, perhaps... I remember these things because I'm always getting called an extremist by people who hold opinions I would consider to be quite extreme. The whole "you're an extremist/ideologue/utopian" thing seems lik a pretty weak substitute for an eloquent debunking of why that is the case, is all, and I get disgruntled by it.

I can't believe that people just walk straight past someone who is practically passed out on the ground. It disgusts me almost as much as those skinheads.

He is a baboon penis. A dripping baboon penis.
I suspect very strongly he himself has no penis.

As you know, I'm not a US citizen so am less qualified than an actual American to speak on these matters, but surely when the likes of LBJ and Eisenhower were desegregating schools and the army, they didn't need to appeal to the UN to get it done? No, they knew it was the right thing and said so, and won people over with the argument. I disagree with that Arizonian law personally, but recognise there are better ways of winning people, especially people as nationalist as Americans, around than asking for international condemnation, and if you're in a country which devolves power as much as the US does then you have to accept that certain states will make laws like this.

God, using a voucher system for welfare to stop immigrants taking it all up would be better than that current mess. Bush was so much better than Obama when it came to immigration.

As an Arizonan who has been personally affected by this law, being of half Spanish/Puerto Rican descent and having lived in a Border city like Yuma, I can say that appealing to the UN is pretty damn spineless. I've been pulled over and had my shit search 9 times at every location inbetween my hometown and Yuma, and felt powerless while my fiance and I sat there being singled out due to the color of my skin. Quite oddly, there still is something that needs to be done about the issue, though when someone is talking about Biometric ID cards it strikes me as slightly Orwellian by it's very nature. Maybe Ole' Baboon Penis will actually sit down and devise some of this "comprehensive immigration reform", so at least I can know that I wont miss the next show in Yuma because I look like a "person of interest".

@COTB - What, is that such an outrageous statement? Heh, in terms of religiously-fuelled wars the man was still awful, don't go overboard completely. There is no black or white in politics.

@ Steve - it absolutely is a borderline fascist policy, without question. Obama should have the guts to say so. Yet such is the quandary - stop social welfare to immigrants? For how long? Stop benefits completely? Or stop immigration? It's one or the other - open borders and no benefits means immigrants won't take advantage, yet damages the natives who genuinely need them.

Edit - this sums up my arguments pretty well

@ Goat ~
Just giving you a hard time, man.

@ Steve ~
Nobody should be hassled because of their skin tone.
The way I see it, the only reason a person should be required to "show their papers" is if they were stopped for a reason to begin with, i.e., running a red light, etc.
In which case, if one is not here legally, or are unable to prove that they are, the appropriate steps need to be taken.
I am as white as they come, but if I get pulled over, I am required to show my ID.
It's too bad that legal residents of hispanic ancestry have to pay the price for this, which further amplifies the fact, as you said, something has to be done. Those that abuse and break our laws are ruining it for those that don't.
You can't just have open borders, for very obvious reasons.

The highly controversial reference to the Arizona law serves only one purpose – to gain UN and international support for the Obama administration’s position in the face of mounting opposition from Arizona legislators and a majority of the American people.

This, and thus the rest of the article, is entirely speculation. The Arizona law is the most recent and the most controversial development in the immigration debate so a report talking about immigration would be kind of retarded not to mention it.

Wrong. Mentioning it is what is "retarded".
The fact that a sitting American "president" would bring this up to a foriegn body, after kowtowing to the admonitions of El Presidente of Mexico regarding said law, and filing a lawsuit against a state within the union he is supposed to be presiding over is, at the very least, disloyal and cowardly.
I am of a mind it is approaching treason.
The AZ law is nothing more than a law that states EXISTING FEDERAL LAW BE UPHELD.
What's the controversy?
