ba-dum tshh

I've heard that the EZq version is way glitchier than the Xbox or PC ones.

Yeah, I'm told you start directly lvl 50 and finish lvl 1.

So Afro_Die-T, you also own it or not yet?

edit: level 34, full Daedric armor. Daedric sword as well. Smithing has its uses :D

Nope, it'll be mine in less than 12 hours though. Basically I was told not to buy it because it'd already been bought for my birthday. So the wait has been excruciating but at least I don't have to pay for it. :D

Get the PS3 one if you can, it's pretty decent. In one or two years we'll be able to play it properly on a computer. I followed the same procedure with Oblivion.

On 'miscellaneous' quests again, two other things I like:

- A simple retrieval quest can hide a big, difficult dungeon. I just finished one of these, it took me more than an hour. My Heavy armor level went from 92 to 99. I got hit A LOT.
- Sometimes a miscellaneous objective leads to a bigger event (a side quest, or better: a chain of side quests).

Well anyway. Game of the year for me, hands down. I'm really happy with the last two games I've bought (NHL 12 and Skyrim). These are 20c per hour played games, they're well worth the price. And I have yet to play The Witcher 2, which probably awesome too. And Dark Souls, and Anno 2070, and FIFA 12, and Heroes VI, and LA Noire, and many more... Hell perhaps even Battlefield 3, why not. I need to write them all down somewhere, I'm actually losing track.

Same here (no kidding?), but today (Monday) I've only sinked 5 hours in it. Compared to the other days, that's quite the improvement.

Well, shit, that's exactly what happened Sunday. Was it the quest that had you retrieve Mjoll's sword from those Dwemer ruins? Because that was a huge rollercoaster of a miscellaneous quest, with a rock-hard Falmar mage worth half a dozen quickloads, and a Dwemer centurion right at the end that made me hop in and out of the room regularly to regain stamina.

Haha, the cave with the damned Falmar mage and his bloody centurion! It wasn't that one. I first tried to beat those guys when I was like level 8 or 12, got spanked (hard), then came back later when level 20-22 or something. I was able to hit harder, but had to lure the falmer into rune traps, and loose the centurion nonetheless (not too difficult, the thing is slow). I drank 10+ potions in the process. I love that the population of that cave did not scale leveled, EXCEPT for the bosses. I love that formula.

I'm not giving away the location of the cave I was talking about (surprise is half the fun!), but it was the same kind of challenge.

Now, to people playing this game, do you agree that Vanilla Skyrim > Vanilla Oblivion? They did a wonderful job, despite the bugs and glitches. I can't wait to have mods and a better computer to max everything. Next year, for my second run (a female Bosmer assassin, most probably).

Vanilla Skyrim is miles ahead of Oblivion. I mean, leveling is something you look forward to now. I can't wait for a Fallout 4 with the same panache Skyrim has.

+1000 :dio:
The landscapes are so beautiful. I've always loved the viking culture and this is like living in those days of high adventure.

Yesterday I was wandering near Whiterun, and with my bow I molested a giant. He was very pissed off and chased me like forever! So I ran and ran looking for help. Near the watchtower 3 guards came in my help and the giant killed them like flies. That was pretty cool to watch.

The animations in third person improved A LOT.

OK, so we agree. Even the streamlined bits are better than in Oblivion (IMO):
- No birth signs? Standing stones do the job, and are even better because you don't have to stick with your bonus for the entire game.
- No mysticism? Near useless as a skill anyway.
- No Athletics and Acrobatics? That was too gamey, the first thing people did was to jump and run everywhere. Glad they finally got rid of them.
- Auto-healing? It's cheap, but resting also was (as Afro_D-Shak pointed out), and you can always up the difficulty.
- No custom spells? For now, yes. I bet they'll be back in the first DLC. Although there are 80+ spells in the game already... but yeah, admittedly custom spells were wicked fun (and totally overpowered).

Now is the game better than Morrowind? Tough one. Morrowind is Morrowind, a classic, and this sure ain't Morrowind 2.0. I'd say both are great games, for different reasons. Morrowind perhaps has more depth gameplay speaking, but Skyrim has more depth universe speaking. I think they're equals, really.

Oh and I completely agree on Fallout 4, can't wait to play that one. In 2013, maybe?
edit: oh wait, I just read Obsidian is developing it? Hmm. New Vegas was great, but awful technically...

I don't think it's going to be Obsidian making it. On the Fallout wikia it says Bethesda is developing it, but not much else is known so far of course. I think it's obvious for legal issues that Obsidian couldn't be making a game titled Fallout 4, but of course they could make another Fallout title. Which I hope they will also do with the Creation engine.

I hope you're right, but here: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4

Is written:
developer: Obsidian Entertainment
publisher: Bethesda Softworks

Probably just misinformation though. I'm sure Beth didn't spend time and money on the making of the Creation Engine just for one game only. We're in for a treat.

Whether they develop a new Fallout or TES next, I don't really care, huge fan of both franchises. I just hope Obsidian can finally get their act together.
