I agree with your analysis of the England team. I do think there is "warrior soul" in there still. It just depends on whether the players can draw it out of themselves- we don't seem to have the right manager to inspire it, as was demonstrated very depressingly against Brazil in 2002.

I guess we have a very fast and physical style of playing, and most of our best performances have happened when opposition teams just haven't been able to stand up to that tempo. We just don't look like we are comfortable, or fitting in, at this tournament yet. At the risk of sounding like an excuse maker, the conditions haven't been conducive to a fast game, and the referees have been really, really hard on physical contact- both of which are very important factors in the Premiership.

Still, I know we have several gears to go up, and I just hope we can do that before it's too late. It's simple, if we can do it in time I think we should beat Portugal. If not we won't. This is why I'm nervous...

Yeah a game with a nonexisting red card too..

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight... yesterday I saw so many cards, what's one "baddly" given, hey? :P

I really would like to know if you italians really like your nation team way of paly... I mean, I see some italian soccer games and they definitely do not reflect Italy's tactic or way of play...

Yep, Beckham is wicked. If we score against Portugal, what are the chances of the goal coming from a Beckham cross or set piece? Pretty high, in actual fact.

Lennon is also wicked, but mainly as an impact player to bring on in second half and fuck with people's heads once Beckham has stopped vomiting.

that 1001 uses for peter crouch thing was priceless! what a complete roflcopter!

on Pauleta: i hope i'm wrong, but unfortunately, he just keeps proving my point. of course i want portugal to score as many goals as possible, if pauleta scores them good for him.

Do you like the style of football Italy practises? Because I don't, and I think that the quallity of the football practiced BY Italy is worse than the great quallity of the football practised IN ITALY by the ITALIAN teams on the ITALIAN championship (or league) ;)

Have you understood now?

hm, Gianluca Pessoto tried to commit suicide, it seems. he "fell" from the Juventus offices' roof, leaving behind his keys and cell phone, and clutching a cross.

weird.

hm, today is the 20th anniversary of the 1986 World Cup final (in Mexico) where Germany faced... Argentina. and lost.

then in 1990 Germany won.

holy shit, this is not only an "early final" for the 2006 tournament, but a chance for both teams to break the tie from 1990.

i can't wait for tomorrow's match!

Well I have money on Argentina for champions so I'm torn.

If they win I'm still on course for my £90, but if they lose I get to see Argentina go out. Tricky!

It's going to be a difficult game for Argentina. But the players don't seem too worried about it. If that bitch Riquelme wakes up and does something this game, we'll do well.

Germany played like shit. I hope Italy destroys them, and Ballack breaks his leg and never plays again.
