I hate to say it, but your average wrestling fan is probably a potbellied Republican redneck who thinks that way anyway. I think this 'pretend fighting' shit is as bad as LARPing, but I'm trying to avoid flamewars, so I left you fools alone for the most part. It's just that you can't expect rationality from people who enjoy watching oiled-up steroidheads pretend to put someone through a table. For fuck's sake!

I agree for the most part. My favorite thing about seeing wrestling live is mocking all of the idiots who think it's real. I have a very big sense of humour about the whole thing, and in no way take it seriously.

You can't pretend to put someone through a table though. There is a risk involved with it, and I've seen a guy get paralyzed in the ring from a botched Powerbomb. It's as dangerous as being a stuntman. And stuntmen get better pay.

It's kind of funny when people get hurt pretending to fight, stuntmen, whatever. My kid brothers wrestle all the time, the younger one always comes off worse, and when he comes out crying, I say the same thing every time, "Your own fucking fault!"

Well, I wouldnt say the only one, but you definitely need to see some more if youre not awestruck by the guy. For a 280 pound guy he can move like a demon. His enziguiris and suicidas through or over the ropes are unreal. Power moves, submissions, strikes, kicks...the man is a technical monster, and looks the part too.

I'd recommend you find any of his matches with AJ Styles or Christopher Daniels from TNA or their three ways...awesome stuff. Match of the Year 2005, Joe vs. Kenta Kobashi in ROH is a must-see, simply sick in it's stiffness. Otherwise from ROH, his 21 month-World title run contained several super matches, look for any against Homicide or CM Punk (the awesome trilogy of Punk vs. Joe is something for the ages), brutal cage match against Jay Briscoe, the epic final battle against Austin Aries...hell, just go for Joe in Ring Of Honor and you can't go wrong.

as TNA is promoing right now..."Joe's gonna kill you"

Wow ! Good to see some wrestling fans here. I have been watching wrestling since 1981. My fav wrestlers are The Ultimate Warrior, yeah retired now, of course Taker and Triple H. I admit, as a kid I used to think the stuff is real. But after going through the internet and reading stuff, came to know its scripted. But I really don't care. It's just like action/horror movies. You know the whole damn thing is not real, it's all scripted with a number of retakes, but still watch it. Why? For entertainment. I want good entertainment and WWe gives it to me though it has become rather dull of late. Miss The Rock's humurous talks. I guess a Taker vs The Great Khali in a buried alive match is round the corner. Would love to see them in a Hell In A Cell match too.

that's just it, submission! i like to watch when the victim struggles and shit (i.e. ankle lock), but i hate holds like the sleeper hold and bear hug, it's just boring to watch while they "fade away".

And you always know when the ref lifts the guy's arm for the 3rd time that he'll keep it raised and find some inner strength (and some timely elbow jabs) to break free of the hold....

both HBK and HHH were making the DX sign at WrestleMania.

i though that if they rejoined, HBK would turn heel, it's kinda hard to imagine HHH as face.

Please!

X-Pac was a discrace...i'm suprised he lasted as long as he did

One of my greatest memory in wrestling was on WCW when Kevin Nash beat Goldberg, for his 1st ever loss.....with the help of Scott Hall and a nasty cattle prod to the mid-section of Goldberg when the ref's back was turned. I used to love Goldberg, but after a while and all the wins after wins, i hated him.

Loved it when Nash power-bombed him and I shouted out "1-2-3!" along with the crowd, who also hated Goldberg by then.

Loved Big Poppa Pump's catch phrase

"Big bad, booty daddy....holla if ya hear me"

Back to the WWE

I have been in and out it for a while. Just wondering what has happened to:

1: Chris Jerrico, and
2: The guy who's catch phrase was "It wasnt my fault"?

The other thing i hate is JBL. I loved Bradshaw when he was in the APA with Farooq. Why the hell did he change characters? Who he is now is a tool

1. Taking time off to concentrate on *snickers* Fozzy.
2. Snitsky is still there. He's just a jobber now.

People change characters all of the time in wrestling. Farooq was let go, so can't really have one Acolyte. Plus I like the Wrestling god shit, it's hilarious. Him telling Rey Mysterio that the World Heavyweight Belt was bigger than he is was gold.

jobber??

JBL does say a few funny things, but he's the guy you love to hate.

I remember another guy who had a character change. Cant remember his name, but the change didnt really help him. The guy was German, and danced all the time. Then changed characters to this evil, serious german guy with a cane or something....he didnt last very long

Jobber means "guy who is there to lose matches to the stars"

You're thinking of Alex Wright. He changed his name to Berlyn and had the Wall as his bodyguard. That was in the dying days of WCW.

Thats the one. I guess it was easy to tell why he had to change characters. He was pretty good as Berlyn, too bad he left it too late as WCW was ending.

Thats a bad blow for Snitsky, he was main event material at one stage, against Kain

JBL is a good heel - he cheats, he talks shit and he puts that girl in front of him to defend himself.

and unlike, say, mark henry, he's at least slightly entertaining in the ring.

HHH wants to be face and a very popular face too.If you remember the loud pop he got when he returned from that quad injury he can pull of being a damn good face the only reason why it didn't work last time is because he was surrounded by a lot of other faces like The Rock,Stone Cold,Hogan was also coming back so they had no choice but to put him back as a heel.

DX has always been popular and I imagine that DX would go over great this time because DX always had some good story lines to back them up and nowadays the story lines in WWE have been somewhat stale so DX coming back would be a good thing for the WWE.

I added Boxing to this topic.

I now return you to the leee vs. Ken boxing discussion already in progress:

leee wrote:
Of course the Canvas fucked up Roy Jones as much as GJ punch, but Roy was done, he got his ass whipped in that fight bad. It was a bad beatdown, is too bad he won't quit. Sad.

He should have quit after beating Ruiz. The weight loss, particularly taking off all that muscle mass (25lbs), just ruined him. Then, of course, getting knocked out has got him punch-weary now where he's too conscious of getting knocked out or hit. I mean, this is a guy who hardly ever even got hit or lost a round in 15 years of boxing, how does he process the possibility of getting hit let alone knocked the fuck out? He doesn't. He's scared now, for lack of a better word.

Quote:
I like Taylor, I like Hopkins more. Taylor didn't take the title but Hopkins certainly didn't do much to keep it the first fight. I would have liked Taylor to do more and he was hurt in the first fight. Look at that right hand he took. Anyways, B Hops should hang it up, but like you, Please god let him knock out Tarver, please!

I'm not the biggest Hopkins fan, he's an amazing boxer, but he's stupid. He should have fought Jones for $6 Million a few years ago, yet he turns it down to fight Morad Hakkar for $600K. WTF? His business tactics are retarded. As for Tarver, his chin isn't that great and Hopkins is still fast and sharp, I think he can knock Tarver out.

Quote:
Taylor isn't going to knock out Winky Wright, much less hit him that much. Trinidad couldn't touch him and I think Trinidad couldgive Taylor a run still. Wright just has that ugly style and that peek a boo guard where he keeps his elbows totally in and his face covered, shit when he is on he is the most displined fighter outside of old school seen in a while. He beat Vargas and got robbed, the only time I saw him get truely beat was against Vasquez when he got dropped like 5 times and it was still close. Anyways, lots of good shit coming up. I hope Cotto whipes the floor with Gotti gangster boy Malaggni or however you spell his name.

We'll see about Taylor. I like both fighters, but I like Taylor more. As for Milignaggi, man I hope Michelle beats the crap out of him. I hate that punk bitch! Feather-fisted faggot. Of course, Scrotto's chin isn't that great so he could potentially get knocked out. Either way, Malignaggi will never amount to much more than fasle hype.

Shit we agree to much on boxing man. I agree with everything you said.

Hell I like Roy, a lot even when he was fighting stiffs, he did clean out Lt Heavy big time even if his comp wasn't that good.

Shit! There's no fun in that.

People want to criticize Roy for not fighting people like Nunn and Darius Michelwhateverthefuck from Germany, but it's nonsense. Jones never ducked anyone. He fought his mandatories, the #1 ranked fighters and he fought tons of champs and even more FUTURE champs. He gave Tarver the chance to fight him early, but Tarver got his jaw broken by Harding so Jones fought Harding! He never Darius because Darius refused to fight outside of Germany and considering that you never win decisions in Germany (Ruiz vs. Valuev, for a perfect example) he was in the right. Not to mention one of his earliest memories is of getting robbed at the '89 Olympics in S. Korea. He beat the dog shit out of that Korean and they gave the gold to the Korean. Pathetic.

Jone fought some bums, but that's the nature of the sport! Everyone fights bums. Fucking Toney fought Roy Jones leftovers his whole career and people call him GREAT! Pffft! Fuck that shit. Anyway, Jones was my favorite fighter until he didn't retire after Ruiz. When I saw him in the ring against Tarver in their first fight I was like, "Uh oh." He looks gaunt and drained. I knew he was done then. I stuck by him, though, not anymore. This Prince dude he's fighting soon, he'd better fuck him up and retire. No more bullshit.
