That's the problem. No wonder that there is corruption and bribery everywhere. The purpose of any industry is to make money and the end justifies the means.
This is also the reason why the spirit of game is sacrified to scaredy-cat tactics.
What I don't understand: Everyone is whinig when bands drag in the mud what Metal stands for in order to serve their pockets and the industry. Football "stars" do just the same with their game and are idolized for that.

It's still possible to see a top-level match with great football, and frankly i don't mind the players with sponsored shirts kicking the sponsored ball into the back of the net, in a goal sponsored by some soft drink company.

sure there's corruption and other shit behind the scenes, but that comes with any industry that size.

and yes, it's an industry, let's face it, but that's inevitable.

the spirit is well alive, both in love of the game (we all play on the weekends) and the clubs (stuff like the Manchester United fans' reaction to Glazer's takeover, or the Red Bull Salzburg thing, etc), you just have to find it ;)

Portugal didn't really deserve it in my opinion but hey, lets look it like this, they have small chance beating Brazil or France with the poor football they showed today

PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPOOOOOORTTTTTTTTTTUUUUUUUGAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!

Anyway, Portugal payed the price of the match against Holland, players too slow, lack of creativity... bah... The english were the team I already predicted, too slow, just Lennon makes the english move, you've an awsome player there.

The game in general was tedious and we, portuguese, had to suffer again to win a match that could be easy.

It's life, win or loose, this is the game... ;) See you next time :)

Like I said, you could see the legs weren't much. Portugal prefered to control the game. Have you, at least once in your life, watch a Portugal game were both teams played 11 vs 11 and with no players tired?!?

In Euro 2004 just Greece stoped us and with a mix of Italian and German tactics, and you ran like hell in every game.

Brasil or France, I prefered France to try and make them pay the loss in Euro 2000.

Portugal is here to stay

RICAAAAAAAAAARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO rocked!!!!

And I think you will see 2 great games in the semi-finals.

EDIT:

"Daddy Tucano, daddy, what now??
Let's beat Brasil??

If it wasn't Ricardo!!!"

Rooney really lost the game for England. That was just such a stupid move on his part. Trying to be a tough guy cost his team big time.

FRANCE 1 - 0 BRAZIL

What the fuck....I mean just what the fuck is up with this tournament? These quarter finals have been big dissapointments. My father said it best: "This World Cup has been a victory for tactical and defensive football." I say fuck tactical and defensive football.

Dissapointments? I'm glad Brazil lost. I'd love to see an Italy - France final.

France won fair and square, but i still think they suck ass.

Mister Clean in the goal and the Hunchback of Notre-Dame in the attack. Riberry can kiss my left nut

on Portugal:

if it wasn't my coutnry playing, i wouldn't have watched the match, it sucked.

Considering England were a man down, we could and should have done much better. and even though we spent a good part of the second half in the English half of the pitch, our attacks were pretty much harmless, while England made me tremble everytime they entered our box. that Lennon guy has some nice moves.

Penalty shootout.. what can i say.. RICARDO IS THE FUCKING MAN! and this time he kept his gloves on

and if Portugal or Spain couldn't make it, i wanted England to win the WC, seriously.

-----------------------

on France and Brazil - Brazil never kicked into high gear despite their INCREDIBLE team, and they paid the price. they lazed around the pitch for the whole tournament and got what was coming for them.

and Zizou.. he was incredible. it's a shame he's hanging his boots after this competition, but at least he'll surely go out on a high note. fantastic player in every aspect, i have total respect for Zidane.
