I've just seen District 9.

I won't try to explain, because words can't do it justice.

Go in to the theatre knowing as little as possible, and experience pure awe. Try to remember: it was only made for $30 million (you won't believe it when you see it, it seems like at least $150 million). It's EPIC.

Easily the best film of '09.

Surely the best of his generation?

Total awesomeness captured in film.

NW: And now for something completely different.

I loled at times but sometimes I find it hard to get. It's too weird for me. But only sometimes. Mostly funny.

Monty Python can be weird to people unaccustomed to it, I guess. But it's really worth it.

Yeah. I've only watched the proper movies before and laughed my ass off. But not the tv show. It's even weirder than the movies.

I didn't think anybody would know it, as it is from later Monty Python.

But I guess I was wrong.

I don't think I've ever laughed so hard or consistently as when I watched And Now For Something Completely Different the first time. Monty Python's Flying Circus humour isn't for everyone... but damned if it isn't some of the funniest shit ever.

Wow, from the trailers it looked like one part generic sci fi film with lots of explosions/one part extremely heavy handed message movie. Maybe I'll check this out... and that other sci fi movie that came out recently which is supposed to be good, Moon.

I love Flying Circus.

I love the self defense against fruit skit. Or the ministry of sillywalks.

"Then, you eat the banana, thus disarming him."

"What if he comes at you with a pointed stick?"

Brilliant.

Just saw two movies, back to back at a film festival. The first was "To Live And Die In L.A.", by William Friedkind, director of The Exorcist. 1985 cop movie, pretty good, very detailed, brilliantly filmed. The second was the first worldwide screening of a new anime film called Redline, which was basically 90 minutes of visual masturbation.

I just got home from seeing it too, it is definitely one of the best movies of 2009, if not THE best. My only complaint was that I would've liked to know more about the aliens' backstory: What happened to their ship? Why were they so far away from home? And one weird thing I noticed... (SPOILERS!)
The alien ship had been hovering over D9 for nearly 30 years because it was broken down, right? Yet, when the one alien and his son went back up to the ship (And why don't the aliens have names??), it was suddenly magically able to start right up and fly away. I tend to turn my brain off during movies, but I couldn't help but notice this. All in all though, it's one of the best Sci-Fi movies I've seen in a long time. Thankfully it's set up for a sequel, so maybe District 10 will fill in the gaping plot holes of D9.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DISTRICT 9 SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!

It was because they ran out of fluid dude. All they needed to get the mothership started was fluid. That's why Christopher Johnson tells Wikus that it will take 3 years to fix him.

He says "i need to use all the fluid to get home, but i promise i will return"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!END SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw Get Over It last night. It isn't exactly mindblowing, but it's cute.

SPOILERS!
I thought that they were using the fluid to power the smaller ship to get to the mother ship... it shows Wikus putting the fluid in the smaller ship right before it starts up, so did they use the same fluid in the mother ship? I guess so. I think I looked over that line of dialogue because there were so many explosions going on that it distracted me. Haha.
