The Japanese are the most racially dense population on the planet, so much so that it's getting them in trouble. Because they're so ethnically dense, they tend to see other races as "dirty" in a way. Hell, they even think this of the Koreans, and they're pretty much next door neighbors.

I did not know that the current zeitgeist was also like that. I'm aware of brutal suppressions and mistreatment of foreigners in the past, but I thought that westernization might have changed their attitude.

This is a seriously disgusting and racist post. Nowhere near all Muslims are fundamentalists, and it's extremely insulting that you think that they're all just waiting for some nutjob to tell them to blow themselves up, and that they all have it in them to do it.

And Arab does not= Muslim. There are Christian Arabs and non Arab Muslims (for example, say, all of Iran). And I'm seriously once again weirded the shit out that you would base a decision to nuke countries based on misinformation about Islam and the fact that you knew one Arab guy once who didn't like it when you made fun of his religion. Many religious people of many religions don't like it when you make fun of their religions, you know.

I think most of it comes from their own nationalism... Plus, if you grow up seeing and living around pretty much only Japanese people your entire life, then I'm sure seeing someone with Western features would be a bit of a surprise. I've seen some of the ways they characterize Westerners in some of their cartoons, and it's pretty much a caricature.

No one's making babies there either. I heard that there were some cases of offspring being retarded because they're so racially dense it's almost akin to inbreeding. They've got some big problems.

Even Hindus, Christians and Buddhists get offended if their religion is being mocked. It depends on the individuals IMO. Most Muslims grow up with a pretty strict religious upbringing and therefore they're pretty 'close' to their religion. I'm sure there are Christians who are pretty strict themselves and are easily offended even with the slightest joke. It's just that population wise, there are more staunch Muslims than staunch Christians in this world. Just look at yourselves

And don't blame teh metal. I've met many Muslims who are big fans of Metal but they're still practicing Muslims.

Similar arguments were used by muslim fanatics in their terrorist attacks... And with the same arguments, someone can think is a good idea to nuke USA, full of fanatic conservative christians.

All I'm saying is that finding a Muslim who can take such a joke is a rarity, far more rare than the Christian equivalent, and trust me, here in Malta we are up to our eye sockets in Christianity (accompanied by of course, a lot of hypocrisy).

How many Muslims have you met, ffs? I know plenty who are quite capable of taking jokes.

As in they are extremely fanatical/serious when it comes to religion, that any sort of joke or criticism of their religion to them is to commit one of the worst crimes imaginable.

And come on guys, are you forgetting about the fatwas issued over the years for people who criticised the way Muslims treat women and who question any part of their faith? Like Salman Rushdie for example.

Reaching conclusions about Muslims based on limited personal contacts and generalizing is not the way to do it. However, you can argue that Islam is dangerous looking at what seem to be the prime motivators in the religious system.
SoulSociety is right about the fact that they're quick to insult. Apparently every other creed or belief is evil and infidel and must be converted to Islam or extinguished, but don't you dare say anything naughty, critical, or insulting about Islam or rioting (and deaths) start. This is because a core belief of Islam is the non-inclusivity of the religion. Islam is the LAST and FINAL version of the word of God. Other religions, while still maintaining the truth for themselves, are not so adamant about being the only possible version.

But even Christianity somewhat accepts, or at least tolerate, alternate version or interpretations. It took violence to get there, but even Protestantism is a step up. The difference between Xtianity and Islam is that the Xtians say "our God is the one true God and Jesus Christ is his son and our saviour", whereas for the Muslims it's "Allah is the one true God, Mohammed is his prophet, and Islam, the Hadith and the Koran is the only way to worship him". Xtians will accept that Jews, for example, worship the same God. Muslims don't care. Technically they still are "people of the book", but they don't worship God according to the one final true interpretation, namely Islam.

Maybe people living in, say, Saudi Arabia, might be normal people like you or me, that have a certain way of life imposed upon them by the leaders of those countries? Gosh isn't that a crazy idea.

I presume you mean suicide bombings, which do indeed go on fairly regularly in the Middle East but are virtually never a response to someone "joking about or insulting" Islam. Someone blowing themself up in East Jerusalem is thinking "that'll teach them to take the piss out of us Muslims!"... yeah right.

Only the liberal ones, hence masses of missionaries in Israel and the whole ridiculous Jews For Jesus cult. I think you're focusing too much on the extremist Muslims and not on extremist Christians and others too.

You will admit thought that there is a pronounced difference between the intensity of Christian assertions of sole bearer of truth and the Muslim ones.

Well, I'm sure Fred Phelps would be equally as bastardly were he to gain a position of real power. Ditto any mentalist Jews you can think of.
