I think people are more complex that that unfortunately. Anyone, especially on an internet forum, can be pushed to anger. Some people are going through things in their life which cause them to take it out online. People can be nice one day and an asshole on a mission the next.

I think the short answer is that internet forums need moderation. And since we are in the unmoderated section of the forum, scolding people is about as useful as pissing up a rope. By far, the most effective strategy is to simply ignore them.
